If you plan to host an event here I will not recommend especially if you are being assisted by Camp Carter Coordinator Cory Nelson. For my event, 10/25/25 which was my wedding Mr. Nelson helped himself to our open bar and became heavily intoxicated and became verbally abusive to me, the bride to where FWPD officers had to ask him to leave. Keep in mind Mr. Nelson was never invited to attend our wedding. Cory Nelson used profanity towards me and the DJ over the music being too loud after volumes were approved the day before. This was at 11:30pm even though contract approval was until midnight. Off duty officers were never informed of complaints by Nelson which was the purpose of them there for any complaints or misconduct. Nelson came directly to me and DJ and was in my personal space and expressed threatening behavior. He was rude to my family and I the whole day but towards the end of the night is what really did it for us. He kept trying to return to the hall that night shouting and cursing to where FWPD officers urged him to leave before he was escorted off the property. In our contract agreement alcohol was allowed as long as the bartender could present his TABC license. Bartender served Mr. Nelson under the impression he was a guest. Also stated to my bridesmaids earlier in the day how our event was not a priority nor a concern. Hall for event was not cleaned nor prepared for the event. My family and I had to remove furniture and clean the hall. Asked Nelson 24 hours to event to assist but his response was that he would try to get to it if he could. Didn’t have power Mr. Nelson stated he would rent generators for the hall just for us to provide our own generators because all he could do was place flashlights in restrooms that reeked of urine. I thought maybe I was being maybe a “bridezilla” so suggested for my bridesmaid and dad to take over earlier in the day and yet he continued the disrespect towards them. The following morning we returned to pick up generators and extension cords just for our extension cords to become missing. Spent nearly $3k to have our wedding here just to be mistreated so terribly. If this is how he acts around grown adults imagine how he acts around your children when there’s no other adult supervision around!!! Loved this place since I was kid and had plans for my future children to attend here. Now can’t even trust a place that allows a person like Corey Nelson to continue employment there
I attended my friend’s wedding at this venue & the location was beautiful but the service from beginning to end was horrible! There was no electricity for hours & they didn’t want to make any accommodations & then at the end of the night their staff was drunk & was extremely rude to the bride & he ruined the end of the night for my dear friend! She should have had a beautiful experience from beginning to end because it was her wedding day & they failed to provide that for them. I would never recommend this place to anyone!
My 9 yo had an incredible time at day camp last summer. I’m so glad it is on my commute to work from Keller into Fort Worth. So convenient and I love that he was outside, swimming and exploring all day. We can’t wait until next summer
This camp is one of the best in all of Texas, without a doubt, my son is a different person after attending, he always tells me about the different activities he does with his counselors and friends. They have many food options, and the activities are top-notch, in my son’s words, “My top 5 favorite activities are: archery, swimming, canoeing, the giant swing, and the climbing tower.” As a parent, I feel confident and safe leaving my son here.
what am amazing place!!! We were here for Girl Scout camp and it was a blast! The instructions were extremely well trained. The facility was clean and well kept. The canoeing lifeguard was proactive and was in the water with the group the entire time. We definitely had an amazing time and looking forward it again next year!
