A great space with responsive staff. Mostly the food was just OK The rigatoni was good. Had to send it back for heating though because it was not hot. The risotto was so overpowering is was a bit of a shock. I would describe it as bitter. Whatever greens they used in it tasted like beet greens or something very harsh. This cannot be the usual recipe. Other dishes were ok but not memorable. Portions were just acceptable. Wanted the Osso Bucco but $63?? This is the second try this year. Sorry, I don’t think we will be going back soon.
Had very high hopes for this place and planned our anniversary here. The beet and citrus salad my partner ordered lacked any flavor and ‘vinaigrette’. The side of shrimp was charred and if blind folded we wouldn’t be able to tell what type of meat it was over the burnt taste. The chicken marsala had little to no cream and was coated with oil - definitely NOT what marsala should be. The waiter, however, was phenomenal and was very good at his job. For the price of the food it wasn't worth it.
We came here for my wife's birthday. Amy took such good care of us on our first visit. She was amazing, but so were our food, drinks, and the ambiance! Five stars all around! The best negroni that I have ever had. We both LOVED the grilled artichoke. She enjoyed the house salad with a very fresh and tart dressing, I LOVED the fennel/apple salad, and I was so pleasantly surprised when I got the rehydrated cherry or a bite of pistachio. Crispy salmon should be on everyone's bucket list... She disagrees. She thinks it should be grilled chicken picatta (but she didn't have the salmon!). I also indulged in a draft Peroni, then affogato and Courvoisier VS for dessert... which they served in a heated glass. Another beautiful attention to detail. Everything was beautifully prepared and served. This was an amazing experience, and we are both so glad that we chose Alavita to celebrate my wife's birthday!
We loved the food! It’s probably the best Italian food in Boise area. Beef rigatoni was our favorite! Calamari were so yummy too. The arugula salad was so so good! Justin was a great, knowledgeable, friendly server. It was our first time and we enjoyed it.
While Italian isn't my normal go-to, we wanted to give it a shot after hearing a lot of great things from our friends. And it was absolutely worth it! There were a lot of options that sounded delicious and we ended up getting: Marinated Olives, Cannellini Hummus, Grilled Artichoke Hearts, and the Black Ravioli. I like a lot of flavorful food and few places actually do much to their olives, but the citrus added a nice element to them and would get them again. Now the hummus was probably the second best that I've had in the entire valley, which I'll always be getting when dining here. And the grilled artichoke hearts were very tasty, too! The venue is beautiful and transports you out of the downtown area, which is really nice. I'm excited to go back and to try some of their other menu options!
