American Moving did an outstanding job on our small move of very heavy furniture locally. They sent three strong men, who were all very courteous and did an excellent job protecting our furniture. That job ended up costing less than the estimate., Because we used less time. I would not hesitate to hire them again.
Hands down the best moving company I’ve ever used. Brandon and his team at America Moving and Hauling were outstanding down to earth, fast, efficient, and 100% professional. No runaround, no stress, just showed up and did exactly what was asked (and did it right). They took a huge weight off my shoulders during the move, which says everything. I was so impressed that I plan on reaching out to the owners to let them know how exceptional this crew was. If you’re on the fence, don’t be. These guys are the real deal. I’ll absolutely be using them again. Highly recommend.
Destroyed, broke, scratched, dirtied or stained just about every piece of furniture I owned. They tossed my mattress, where I sleep/spend 8+ hours on top of every day, from the moving truck and directly onto the ground and dirt. It got extremely, visibly dirty and had leaves on it, even though it was inside of a useless mattress bag I had pre-purchased from them for the moving day. The American moving crew also brought a truck way larger than necessary for my move, and then refused to pull into my driveway (yet since this move, no other large delivery truck for things like a new washer/dryer/furniture has had any issue at all with delivering right up to the house). Their lack of proper equipment meant that my family, local friends and even my brand new neighbors (!) who saw what was happening had to come help unload my furniture and boxes from the American moving truck, into my brother’s truck and my new neighbors’ trailer at the bottom of the driveway, drive it up to my house, and then unload everything. It essentially defeated the purpose of hiring movers, and it made my already really long moving day take double the time. My family, my friends and I were all so exhausted and dead tired at the end of the day. Meanwhile, you can see that, instead of walking like the considerate, unselfish people in my life that I still I had to call on and ask if they would come help me move, the American movers preferred to be chauffeured back and forth all day from the American moving truck to the house by my brother, in his truck. I have no idea why I hired this moving company since they destroyed so much of my furniture, I had to end up providing the right equipment for the move, and still had to do all of the unloading and moving! The whole reason why I decided to hire movers was to save my family and friends—who are getting older —from having to do the physical labor, and they had to do it anyway, wearing themselves out, and making me feel terrible. I really, really regret hiring this company for my move. I have hired professional movers from a different company before and had a great, seamless experience that was worth the money to save the stress and effort— this was the total opposite. They eventually had me coordinate with someone to come clean my dirtied mattress—imaging paying movers and not being able to sleep on your mattress for several days because it is stained and covered in dirt—and to clean my light colored couch and ottoman that they swore to my husband that they wouldn’t get dirty. Only a couple of items that they broke were covered by the insurance claims. A move that goes smoothly is still inherently stressful itself - and then having to contact this company about the problems, ask for a cleaning, staying home to get the cleaning done, going through the insurance claims and replacing everything else was so, so stressful. I don’t like writing bad reviews, but I have contemplated this for a while after my move and still feel sick to my stomach that I paid close to $1000 for this level of sorry service—not including the $40 cash tip I still gave to each of the movers at the end of that day. I would never use American moving again myself— and if I had heard that my friend was moving, I would strongly warn them against it and advise them to use any other place.
They only deserve a 1 because their very professional office staff’s pre-moving phone service. The move was a disaster. They damaged floors, walls, two beds, two dressers and a piano. They also broke a large flowering orchid in half even though they were not moving it. My piano caster does not seem to be in correctly and part of the metal is broken off, plus the glossy black piano is chipped and scratched. They could not place my piano where it was intended and simply left it in the mudroom even though I told them I could direct them as to where to put it if it could not be placed downstairs as intended. My husband and I had to move the piano ourselves and that’s when we found the wheel was not working any longer. I also unwrapped a lot of furniture and moved a bookcase by myself just trying to help them get finished and out the door. They took 9.5 hours for a 4.5 hour job. They sent someone out to “help” with the terrible situation and the man would not even look at me or introduce himself, did not speak to me. Even my new neighbor met me the evening of the move and commented on how excessively long the moving truck was there and how she kept seeing them just standing outside at the truck doing no work (see photo). Horrible!!! RUN and dont think their nice office staff will make this worth using. The men moving us spent half their time standing around, talking on the phone, smoking, taking 3 men to do one simple task etc. Sometimes I could not locate the workers even because they were not actually inside and working! Update: I have already spent $450 to repair two items they damaged and more to come. Reply: In response to your accusation that I am the one making false statements as well as your accusations that I damaged my own furniture: If I were not an honest person I would not have said the mattress fell over in the first place when we took the 20lb dog out to the bathroom (since the job was running hours behind and they should have not needed kept pent up for that long). The mattress was placed precariously in a spot they knew I had my pets. It fell over and I said so. It is unrelated because it did not cause the damage that my headboard was delivered with. Your own workers said they noted a bent screw after the mattress fell. That was it. It would be physically impossible for holes to be in the front and back of my wooden headboard from this. Secondly, I told the men repeatedly over their very extended visit that I could tell them where to put the piano if they couldn’t get it downstairs. It was not even left on a wood floor as you claim in your accusations below! . The mudroom is not wood. Have you ever had a grocery buggy with a bad wheel? It still rolls but not correctly! That is what our piano did and my husband lifted the weight from the bad wheel just enough to avoid scratching the wood that we rolled it just several feet onto. And while we can lift a corner of the piano just hovering off the ground to roll it safely, no we can not lift a piano inches off the ground to photograph from underneath. Those are two different situations. To accuse me of damaging my piano by rolling it several feet in my home is total gaslighting. And why are you asking where picture of my floor are? I did no file a claim for my floor, no did you move it 😂 I am not the dishonest party here. I see in other reviews this is a common tactic you all use to avoid even nominal claims that wont begin to cover the damage you cause. Furthermore I was not told thy would come the next day at no charge. I was eventually told (as I was sobbing from the exhaustion of hours of poor service and damage) they would come “another day”, that there would be more charges and that they would require a waiver that you take zero responsibility. Good riddance to you! I hope you all get the day you deserve.
We had the best experience with American Moving and Hauling Inc. They were always prompt to return messages and answer questions. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The guys took extreme care with all of our furniture and belongings. They are hard workers and very efficient and had us completely packed up in about six hours. Then they transported our belongings to another state the next day and carefully unloaded everything in record time. They really did an amazing job and we couldn’t be more pleased. Brandon was a great team leader, very personable and professional. I would definitely recommend this company.
