Animal Referral and Emergency Centre

To have a facility operational 24/7 brings so much peace of mind. Thank you for allowing me to spend over 3 hours with my beloved cat late on one of the nights she was admitted two weeks ago, it helped us both and was very much appreciated knowing how busy the hospital was. Reception were especially lovely. She has been doing better and I thank you for getting her home to me as soon as possible.

I think the staff are wonderful and do a great job but it seems to me that management only care about money, I’m not understanding why this feels like a American hospital when someone doesn’t have insurance. We took our French bulldog in and told them a puppy was crowning and nobody really done anything until money was paid up front! I understand the world isn’t free but these animals are family member’s also, this French bulldog was bought because of a death in the family and is our family member and to be subjected to pay half up front or we won’t touch your animals I feel isn’t good enough although I understand. I told them I could come up with the money in 2 days and the response was “my hands are tied”! Good luck in the future because we will not be using this company ever again and please all people who become vets try and remember why you became one and chose this path as a career!!!!

I’m nearly sure this is an emergency vet, or supposed to be. So maybe, just maybe have a level entrance for dogs to walk in. Not a 35 metre ramp. I am well aware that I could have asked for a stretcher but my dog could walk and was fine for half of the ramp up. But by the time I had walked him all the way he had expended most of his air and had to be put on oxygen straight away. I did not realise he was that unwell, and that the ramp would be so arduous. After 6 hours there, I was told nothing they were doing was working and he had to be euthanised and I could not take him home for my vet to do a home call so he didn’t have to pass in that sterile environment surrounded by sterile people because he was oxygen dependent! And after he was put down the saccharine words and apologies were unbearable. Invest in an acting coach and construction for a level entrance. I spent almost 6k, he was there for 6 hours. So put that in your capital expenditure for 2026. Other than that when he got in, I could see through the door that he was surrounded by a team that were trying to help him, they allowed me into see him as much as I wanted once they had done their best to stabilise him. But I felt very pushed to euthanise him on the spot and I would have liked to take him home. But once again they said he would not make it due to his oxygen dependency. TLDR. Build a level entrance or in the mean time carry your animal or ask for a stretcher. This photo below was taken a few hours before a took him to AREC.

Our dog was recently admitted to your hospital and we just want to thank the staff for being so unconditionally kind to me and my family. I would love to shout out the vets Anna and Cassandra. Our triage nurse Joan (i could be so wrong) and the two receptionists I spoke to over the phone Brooke and Taylor. They assured me in such a stressful time that my dog was safe, calm and happy. Once again a huge thank you to the Broadmeadow team with treating our family and pet with such respect and kindness. She is now doing so well at home and we only have the team at AREC to thank 🩷🩷

A heartfelt thank you to Dr Maya and the team at AREC for their incredible care and compassion when we had to suddenly say goodbye to our beloved 15-year-old staffy, Ace last Tuesday night. Dr Maya was so gentle and kind, and helped make an unbearable moment for our family peaceful. A special mention also for Riley, her kindness and warmth when taking my initial call meant so much. Our family is forever grateful for the dignity and love shown towards our beautiful Ace by the staff that night. 💙🕊️🐾
