They have always been so accommodating. Love my virtual visits. And any issue with my medication are taken care of ASAP.
Our family has been seeing Tristan for MDD and he has worked patiently with us to find the right set of medications to help us get comfortable. There have been many a times we have reached out off hours, and Tristan and his team has gone above and beyond to accommodate us(he has called us back during his lunch break to answer our questions, who does that these days?). He truly listens to our needs, educates us about side effects before trying any new medications. We are truly happy to have a found this group of psychiatrists that cares for their patients.
Dr Holcomb is an amazing human being. He's been so kind and insightful. The entire staff is helpful, friendly and nice. I suffer from severe anxiety, childhood trauma and depression. I've been in some kind of therapy all of my life and I've never felt it that helpful ,until I met this Dr. I attend group therapy as well. It has been really life changing for me and my family. Cannot give them enough love. If you need help, this is a great place to find it.
Tristan actually takes the time to listen to your story and understand your history. Very little have I had a psychiatrist go in-depth like that, and it especially hasn’t happened anytime soon in an out-patient setting. It’s a breath of fresh air. He has been a tremendous help for me in terms of my sobriety and mental health; he keeps me on track. He gets where I’m coming from, and is someone I can lean on in my recovery journey
Unfortunately Dr. Holcomb encompasses what I think is the biggest problem with mental health treatment -- the idea that "one size fits all." We all have our own stories, and for a doctor to understand us and be able to treat us, we need to be truly listened to. Dr Holcomb's priority is not you; it's him. I've run into a lot of practitioners like this before. The focus is on the doctor's expertise and ability to diagnose, which takes priority over listening to you and forming a complete picture, which often leads to an incorrect diagnosis or ineffective treatment. Doctors like this don't know what to do without their step by step methodology so if you don't easily fit into their processes, they can't adapt or they get frustrated with you. My story happens to be extremely complicated and the events that I experienced that contributed to lifelong trauma. anxiety, and depression did not exist in a vacuum separately from one another. When I tried to elaborate it was clear Dr. Holcomb wanted simpler answers and when I said I couldn't give him simple answers because the situation wasn't that simple, he became frustrated with me and essentially told me that he didn't want to treat me because I was "combative" lol. Anyone who comes to a psychiatrists office looking for help in their suffering loves to hear that from a doctor. He is correct though; he can't treat me because he isn't equipped to treat anything outside what fits into his one size fits all approach. One size fits all is the problem in mental health, not the solution.
