Barnes & Noble: A refreshed Long Beach bookstore with broad genre sections and easy browsing.
Barnes & Noble in Long Beach at 6326 Pacific Coast Hwy offers a broad selection of books and related items. After renovations, it now operates on a single floor with genre sections, replacing the former two-story layout. Reviews are mixed: some praise the refreshed browsing space, others miss the previous ambience. Parking is available; staff are friendly, and the store is kid- and parent-friendly.

Imagine our disappointment planning a visit to what once was a beautiful two stories to explore by the water, only to be greeted by an unwelcoming 1/2 book, 1/2 knickknack store. Was the developer behind this redesign the same genius who plopped the yuri and BL next to the children’s picture book section? Cons: • no cafe • no table seating • maze like aesthetic • empty downstairs still for lease Pros: • a bathroom • some seats • a few books still remain • you can take a step outside and enjoy a view of the water after being overwhelmed by the new bright ah Barnes & Noble lighting

clean but less space than before, I wish there was still the second floor since there was more books and also the Starbucks that was next to it, what’s a Barnes and noble without a Starbucks or books. I never review things but the remodel is so bad I had to say something about it.

As the author of The Grant Colson Thriller Series and The SERA Archives Thriller Series, I spend a lot of time in bookstores like this while traveling, and Barnes & Noble in Long Beach has a really unique and inviting design. There’s a nice bridge-style entrance that gives the store a distinctive feel right from the start. Inside, the flooring transitions from vinyl plank to carpet, which helps reduce noise and keeps the space quiet and comfortable. The layout includes dedicated seating areas and large windows, making it easy to sit down and spend time reading before making a purchase. The accent lighting adds a slightly cinematic feel, giving the store a warm and engaging atmosphere. While moving through the store, I also spent a few minutes in the romance section while writing The Maui Desire Romance Series, and it’s a well-laid-out space that fits nicely into the overall flow. The staff has always been helpful and friendly, keeping the experience smooth. This well-designed Barnes & Noble with thoughtful details is a comfortable place to spend time.
