I sought out Karah and pelvic floor PT to support my recovery following pregnancy and a c-section. At six weeks post-partum, she taught me about scar tissue massage and different ways to strengthen my core. Just after one session with her, I noticeably experienced increased blood flow and mobility in the area around by c-section incision. She also provided me with exercises I could do alone at home, and it has been so helpful in my recovery. Just a few weeks after seeing her, I notice myself getting stronger and much less pain. Karah takes the time to explain both the theory and provide concrete exercises to continue at home. She provides a holistic explanation of the pelvic floor, and how it is connected with different parts of the body along with our behaviors and movement. I cannot recommend her enough, especially for anyone during pregnancy and after birth.
I became interested in pelvic floor therapy after being diagnosed w stage 4 endometriosis. After undergoing surgery for this, I knew I needed pelvic floor therapy to help keep my symptoms at bay. But… what I found was so much more! Dr. Karah certainly helped strengthen and calm my pelvic floor but also worked my pelvic fascia (to keep my surgical scars mobile), strengthen my weak glutes and relax my lower back / glute muscles and she’s even been able to help with my urgency symptoms (another endo symptom). Overall, my endo symptoms have dramatically reduced and she’s taught me so many self-care treatments I can do on my own. I’ve also started exploring reformer work with her and she’s already pointed out some areas of weakness we’re going to work on. What’s even more.. she’s such a wonderful listener and has *so* much knowledge about the body that has been so helpful in my quest for optimal health :). I am so so so thankful to have found her and that she’s a part of my “team”.
I’ve seen Maryssa as a pelvic floor patient back when she was practicing at different location, and wow! She is so compassionate about pelvic health and movement sciences. This review is LOOONG overdue, but I was diagnosed with vaginismus and lichen sclerosis. With her help, I gained a new awareness of my body and how it reacts to trauma. I’ve since conquered my pelvic floor dysfunction and am able to enjoy all functional activities and have no participation restrictions! I’ve been able to fully experience life in my 20’s because of her expertise. In fact, I was so inspired by my pelvic floor physical therapists that I decided to pursue physical therapy as a career myself and have recently graduated from PT school (which Maryssa gave plenty of great advice about too)! I am now a pelvic floor physical therapist myself and cannot wait to make an impact on others the same way Maryssa made an impact on me. I have never seen Karah as a patient but have taken a pelvic health yoga class led by her and it was fantastic as well! Thank you, Maryssa and Karah. I would definitely recommend Bodyful to anyone!
Karah is not a PT, she's a goddess. Genuinely the most thorough, caring, individualized therapist I've ever worked with. Her diagnostics were super in-depth and she built a program I could actually stick with. Highly, highly recommend for glute and hip issues, as well as pelvic floor (I saw her for both!), but I'm sure she can do it all. :)
Having taught barre and Pilates for over 10 years, I've seen firsthand the significant physical changes pregnancy brings, and unfortunately, the preventable challenges women face when pelvic floor health is overlooked, leading to unnecessary discomfort and injury. This firsthand knowledge made choosing a pelvic floor therapist crucial for my own pregnancy. I found Dr. Karah at Bodyful Physical Therapy and Wellness in my second trimester, and she quickly became an indispensable part of my journey. Her guidance was empowering, preparing me for labor in a way I didn't know was possible. Thanks to her incredible care, I had an amazing birth experience, pushing my baby out in a mere 40 minutes – a labor I'd happily repeat! Dr. Karah is truly exceptional, and I cherish the support and expertise she provided.
