Let me start by saying I’m a regular customer because Captain Crab has some of the best flavor around. I usually come to this location because it’s closest to my home. There is a host who is there regularly, I believe her name is Marissa (heavier set woman), and unfortunately she always seems overwhelmed or bothered. Today, we checked in as a party of six and waited about an hour and a half. During the wait, one person in our group had to leave, making us a party of five. When we let the host know, she told us it would now be an even longer wait. I asked why the party size made a difference, and she explained that they did not have any 5-top tables available, only a 6-top, and that the 6-top required automatic gratuity. I explained that I come here often, always tip well, and did not mind the automatic gratuity at all. She responded with, “Okay, well wait here then,” and eventually had someone else come seat us even though she was already helping us. This also is not my first uncomfortable interaction with this host. On a previous visit, she said, “Well I guess I’ll help you since all the other servers are busy,” and went on to explain that she was “just the host, not a server.” The comment and overall attitude came across as dismissive and unwelcoming, especially as a regular customer. Unfortunately, the service overall was not very good, and there appeared to be plenty of open tables. It honestly felt more like poor host seating management or overall management issues. I’ll most likely try the Elk Grove location next time and hope for a better experience.

Love love this restaurant. Great food, great service and great place. Loved watching people eat a good old classic spread of everything across the tables. Brought me back to when I lived in Florida.
