Chocolate and alcohol, the perfect pair. We did “The Opening.” It has three courses. Each course came with your choice of: 1. an alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverage: and 2. Two to three pieces of chocolate. The alcoholic beverages were paired with some chocolate that had alcohol in them. The non-alcoholic beverages were paired with chocolates that did not have alcohol. Each course came with one to two discs of chocolate that got darker as the experience progressed. The disks were the chocolates that everybody in the group got to experience the same flavor of. In the first course, you got to choose between two different alcoholic beverages. When we went the drink options were : SHISO SUNSET (Oka Japanese Gin, cantaloupe, lemon, shishito pepper); and LA LUNA (Hamilton 86 Rum armagnac, sherry, benectine). Each drink came with their own accompaniments of chocolate that was specifically paired with that drink. The Shiso Sunset was spicier and fruitier. On the other hand, La Luna being made with rum is more smokier. I got the Shiso sunset because it was recommended by our server, and it definitely did not disappoint. In between each course we were also given a Drambuie based drink to cleanse our pallets. And the last course was a Carajillo. Carajillo is one of my favorite drinks. As our experience guide/the owner was walking towards the table with the drinks my eyes light up. It was so good and the chocolate that was paired with it was divine. While you were doing this whole experience, the taste guide was giving you a history of chocolate and geographical lessons of chocolate and its history. I definitely would come back here again. It was a wonderful experience. It’s honestly the kind of experience that I’ve only get to have when I travel outside of the country, so it’s really nice to have something like this here in Houston.
Had such a great experience here! I came with my best friend who was visiting from out of town, and it made for the perfect date night vibe. The space is intimate, beautifully set up, and even smells amazing the moment you walk in. The customer service was excellent. Michael guided us through each chocolate and spirit pairing, sharing the history and story behind every piece, which made the experience even more special. I highly recommend grabbing dinner at the Thai restaurant in the same building; best Thai food ever (Street to Kitchen) and then heading over to Case Chocolates for the tasting. The two pair together perfectly for an unforgettable night out!
Visiting Case Chocolates was one of the best decisions we made and the highlight of our trip! The ambiance was inviting and comfortable, the presentation and story meaningful and thoughtful, and each chocolate paired so well with the cocktails. It is definitely worth the price and if we’re ever in Houston again this will be our first stop! We also really loved Michael our Beyhive king! If you ever bring Case to New York we will be there to support!
For my husband’s birthday, I surprised him with a visit to CASE Chocolates, a hidden gem in Houston’s Second Ward and it turned out to be far more than a tasting. It was a story, an experience, and a memory we’ll hold onto for a long time. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely welcomed. The hostess greeted us warmly, setting the tone for what would be an enchanting evening. Tucked behind a cleverly disguised bookshelf door, the entry immediately transported us into an ethereal, romantic space. The lighting, the ambiance, and the quiet buzz of conversation felt elevated and intimate like being let in on a beautiful secret. CASE Chocolates is more than a chocolate shop it’s a passion project with global roots. Founder Casey McNeil, a Houston native, had a transformative chocolate experience that launched him into years of international travel, eventually training under a Swiss chocolatier and perfecting the rare art of liquor-filled bonbons. That journey led to this very moment sharing these creations with his community in a setting designed for connection and delight. The experience consisted of a three-course tasting, with each chocolate expertly paired with a curated wine or cocktail from around the world including a selection for the last course from Budapest, one of my favorite places. Every element was considered: from the elegant glassware to the luxurious presentation and unique flavor pairings, it felt as though nothing was done without thoughtful intention. One moment stood out as especially meaningful. My husband noticed bottles of Weller on display and mentioned how much he also loved Eagle Rare. When he spoke to Casey about it, we discovered that Casey’s very first chocolate was made with Eagle Rare which happened to be my husband’s late father Mike’s favorite liquor. That connection brought a powerful wave of emotion. We both felt a sense of divine timing as though Mike was there with us, sharing in the celebration. It added a deeply personal layer to what was already a transcendent experience. CASE Chocolates isn’t just about taste …. it’s about intention, storytelling, and community. There’s a reverence to what Casey has created. You’re not just savoring chocolate and sipping fine wine; you’re participating in something rare and beautiful. We left feeling grateful, inspired, and excited to return for the next seasonal adventure. CASE Chocolates has new fans for life.
Awesome speakeasy/ chocolate tasting and cocktail experience here!!! We came as a group of 12, two of us sat at the bar. When you enter, it’s like a speakeasy where you push the cabinet in and inside you will see the most gorgeous bar. We seated with a starting drink and some snack. The experience begins after the host speaks and we are given our first sets of chocolates, he explains the chocolate and we taste it after. The chocolates are filled with liquor, it was very tasty and sweet. This is perfect for a date or with friends.
