Nice to be surprised in life every once in a while… was the best Cabernet I have ever had. Out of the way but worth the puns on barrels and the wine.

Meal today was disappointing. We frequently visited the previous location with friends and family and enjoyed their four course set menu on many occasions. The current Feed me menu is poor value at $65pp. For $65pp you get two arancini balls, one scallop and you share a chicken Maryland leg, with a side of potato fries and finished off with some gelato. This might be forgiveable if the food was really flavoursome but honestly it was so bland. The arancini was bland and the chicken was almost tasteless, it was basically chicken cooked in milk with some light spices on top. The side of "potato fries seasoned with rosemary citrus salt" was literally just deep fried chips from Coles or woolies with no rosemary added... on our chips anyway. Would have given this feedback in person but on settling the bill didn't even get asked how everything was, hence the review. One advantage of the new location is that it's close to Broadburger were we went to get a burger to fill us up after our $130+ lunch at Contentious 👍🏽.

The Contentious Character – great atmosphere and delicious breakfast My husband and I had breakfast here and really loved the atmosphere this place offers, relaxed, welcoming, and full of character. We visited during the quieter season, which made it easy to chat and enjoy the space without feeling rushed. The food was very good. I had the chilli scramble, which was noticeably spicier than other chilli scrambles I’ve had, not a bad thing at all, and something I personally enjoyed. My partner ordered the Belgian waffle and said it was one of the best waffles he’s ever had. We also had iced mochas, which were great, although there was no cold brew coffee available. It’s also worth noting they offer wine tasting, which adds something a little different and interesting to the experience. Staff were polite and lovely throughout our visit, and there is both indoor and outdoor seating available. Overall, a really enjoyable breakfast spot that we’d happily return to.

Great breakfast spot with excellent ambience I recently visited Contentious Character, an urban winery located in Fyshwick's Dairy Road Precinct. The breakfast was good and satisfying - definitely worth trying if you're in the area. However, I'd recommend skipping the long black as it's quite light for my taste. The outdoor ambience is fantastic - perfect for enjoying a meal while taking in the surroundings. One of the best things about this place is how easy parking is, with plenty of spaces available right outside. If you're looking for a pleasant spot with good food and easy access, this place is definitely worth checking out - just maybe choose a different coffee option!

While the location is quite lovely and the ambience equally nice, we didn't entirely love the experience. The starters didn't come out until we reminded the staff and while the outdoor area had a nice fountain, the toppled bricks/tiles we asked to be moved as they were somewhat dangerous remained. We did ask twice but I guess they were too busy. The food had good flavours but stingy on the size. The salad had 3 small pieces of bocconcini and there were 5 maybe 6 gnocchi on the entire plate (of a main) and while we don't expect some massive feast for the price...the 'sourdough' bread in the picture was $12. I'm not sure it was worth it for 4 small pieces of bread.
