Bank Heist was great. It was really challenging in terms of puzzles but very engaging. Our host Manish was also very helpful and gave us just enough hints to keep moving ahead without revealing much. Highly recommend if you are really looking for a hard game.
We played Matrix here yesterday. The game was amazing and the puzzles were interesting, mostly themed on the movie. But the best part was our host, Manish, who went above and beyond to ensure that we were having a good time and helped us when we needed. We can't wait to play the Bank Heist next. Highly recommend this place for a fun experience.
To preface this by saying the staff/game master during our time here was very nice and kind. This review has nothing to do with them. However, I have a few things to say about my overall experience at this escape room. Now, if you’re thinking of going here specifically for the matrix room (it was the one I did,) please please consider going somewhere else that doesn’t charge you 78 dollars (for two people by the way) for the experience and has a bunch of fake 5 star reviews. It was so expensive and it was disappointing for my partner and I. We both expected the quality to be as good as the price paid for but we were so wrong about that. Now, we both really like escape rooms, too. However, after being at this escape room it was just awful overall compared to so many other ones I’ve been to in Calgary. Firstly, the matrix room was very cheaply decorated overall in terms of the overall layout, props and set. (Most of the decoration was just cheap wallpaper or a half empty room. It wasn’t what I expected for 78 dollars. My boyfriend and I also didn’t like how un-interactive the rooms were overall which was what I was expecting it to be since it was a really expensive place compared to other escape rooms. We couldn’t touch anything or do too much which I understand but I was just really bummed out by that. It wasn’t too bad necessarily but for 78 dollars and a 4.7 star place I was expecting more higher quality decorations and props for the room overall. Now onto the puzzles, the thing about escape rooms I like is being able to generally to figure it out and have the puzzles be straightforward enough to understand but still a nice challenge to solve. HOWEVER, my biggest issues regarding the puzzles for this room was it was way too confusing and they were “you just had to know it” to do them OR they didn’t follow any logical sense. We had to be given many hints in order to understand where to go next and what to even do because everything was very disorganized and hard to understand. A lot of the puzzles had weird varying levels of difficulty that didn’t match up to one another at all and made the overall experience not as enjoyable as I would’ve liked it. We didn’t even complete the escape rooms because one of the rooms had an incredibly confusing puzzle that made no logical sense. Overall, the puzzles were a definite 0/10 for me. I can’t stress enough how disappointed I was over the entire experience because I was hoping for a cool immersive escape room in a cool place downtown but it came out something overall very cheap looking with confusing puzzles and it wasn’t fun overall. I would never recommend this place to anyone who loves escape rooms, this one just isn’t it. Don’t go here unless you wanna feel scammed of your money.
We were here for our team building event recently and had a blast of an experience. Our host, Manish, was so pleasant and courteous and made sure we had all the help we needed. The rooms themselves were designed meticulously and made the game feel very real. The puzzles were hard but made sense once we knew what we were doing. Overall, it was a great experience with some of best customer service I have seen in recent times. Will be back again with family in the future.
We just had an awesome time at Escape Hour Calgary doing both The Matrix and The Bank Heist! Both rooms were super fun and really well designed. Our host Manish was great — super friendly and helpful the whole way through. The secure lockers were a nice touch so we could just focus on the game. Highly recommend!
