Horse and Barrel Tours truly impressed us, going above and beyond with visits to remarkable distilleries. Our driver, Bill, was exceptionally knowledgeable about both the general history and specific processes of distilleries—his deep dive into the Peerless story was particularly captivating. Bill anticipated all our needs, offering useful information without ever being intrusive. We couldn’t have hoped for a better companion throughout the day! The private nature of the tour was fantastic, letting us linger as long as we liked at each location—even fitting in an extra stop. Then when we left behind one of our many purchases the company shipped it to us free of charge!

I work in the hospitality industry and have to say that Bill who was our driver was top notch. He had the right balance of conversation, history facts and gave us all the tips and tricks at each distillery. He would drop us off give us more insight into each place, hold on to anything we bought and overall was amazing. Abe the owner was very responsive in my emails and phone calls and I can't say enough about Horse and Barrel Tours. Great job and can't wait to come back!

My wife and I used Horse and Barrel Tours for our first visit to Kentucky and the Bourbon Trail. I don’t think our experience could have been any better. Bill was our guide for the day, but he was so much more than that. He took lots of great photos, shared history and stories, opened doors, carried our things to the car; he was such a pleasure to spend time with and we were sad when the tour ended. Everyone should experience a day like we had with Bill!!

We chose the 5 Star Bardstown Tour while in town for the Kentucky Oaks race. When booking from home, I struggled with our bank to allow the charge to go through...the fraud department is awesome with what they do, but it was frustrating to be unable to book a tour after telling the bank multiple times it was not fraud. Abe, the owner of the company, assured me that our reservation was secure, and worked patiently with me and my bank to get our payment. The day of our tour, Abe picked us up at our Air BnB and started the morning for us, then Bill took over for the majority of the tour. We went to all of the distilleries on the agenda, plus an additional 2 that we chose en route. Abe and Bill are so personable and we had a blast with them. They are a wealth of knowledge, and shared a ton of tidbits with us...as well as taking photos of our group all day! We would highly recommend Horse and Barrel Tours, and will use them again if we revisit the Bourbon Trail!

This past Saturday we did the Five Star Lexington tour with Bill. Our day started out with a “Biscuit & Bourbon” sampling at their tasting room with the owner Abe. Both gentlemen and were incredibly personable and knowledgeable, and their facility was so cozy and inviting! We were told first thing that Buffalo Trace was closed due to the current flooding & while we were very bummed about that, I have to say that by the end of the day I forgot that we missed out on anything at all. Bill made our day so special and unique, and more than made up for missing that experience! He was fun, funny, a wealth of knowledge about bourbon, local history, horses, and so much more. He insisted on holding all of our gift bags, taking great photos of us at every stop, holding doors for us, and treated us like old friends. In fact by the end of our 9 hour day he did feel like a friend! Top notch service and tour. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area!
