First time visiting JOEY DTLA to celebrate a birthday on a busy Saturday night. Located within The Bloc outdoor shopping center. The restaurant offers complimentary champagne (you might need to ask the hosts about availability) near the front entrance. The decor has a modern, stylish vibe and a lively atmosphere. Our party had a reservation and were seated promptly in a booth near the kitchen. The food and drinks were tasty and arrived pretty fast. Five stars for our server Chase, who gave exceptional, friendly service with great food and drink recommendations. He also made sure the birthday girl felt special during dinner. All the food was prepared perfectly, no complaints there. There's a parking structure on the corner of The Bloc, but it can get pretty expensive. It's $4 a minute with a max daily rate of $44. There are more affordable parking lots nearby! Dinner (as pictured): Food: Herb Crust Salmon, Steak and Sushi plate, Apple Pie, Mini French Dips, and Molten Lava Cake. Drinks: Coconut Smash (low proof cocktail), Strawberry Cool (zero proof), and Sangria. I’m sure their other cocktails are worth a try (responsibly) too!
I had an amazing experience at Joey DTLA! There ended up being an issue with my order and the manager and hostesses made it right ASAP. They were all so kind and attentive! The food was SO good. This is my first time here and I will definitely be back. I ordered takeout and it was 10/10. Thank you to the team. A MUST if you are in Downtown LA.
While visiting LA last week Friday, for my husband’s birthday, we stopped in after seeing great reviews on TikTok and this place did not disappoint. We were greeted with great attitudes, glasses of champagne, and a great ambiance! The restaurant itself boasts of matte black trimmings, wood tones, warm lighting, and textures like marble, dark tan leather and wicker. It’s a whole vibe! Service was great! Our server was wonderful and the food was amazing! We’re back home in GA and I’m still craving the chargrilled pork chop, steak and lobster combo and the bang bang chicken! All delicious! I will go there every time I’m in LA.
In town for a little bit and stopped by because I was really craving steak and pasta - they nailed it! I got the steak and ravioli blanco, and I was basically licking my plate by the end. The truffle sauce is so decadent and balanced. The steak could’ve had a bit more seasoning or flavor, but it was well cooked and tender. The complimentary white wine upon arrival was much appreciated as well. My only complaint of this place is that the service was subpar. When I arrived, the hostess asked if I was okay with a high top. I explained that those are a bit challenging for me, but I’ll take it if it’s the only available option. The other hostess sighed and just said “follow me” with a less happy look. Then, my server, I think Reem is their name, seemed highly annoyed by my presence from the moment I sat down. I kept it brief and bubbly, but she never lightened up. Every interaction felt cold and very short. I was considering dessert, but she immediately just pivoted to asking if I was ready for the bill, so I figured I’ll just wrap it up and leave. The first hostess with dark hair in a ponytail and blonde food runner/server were the only warm and friendly people I met throughout my meal honestly. Food was absolutely delicious and that’s what I came for, but I felt encouraged to leave a review because the service was so rough that it dinged my overall experience a bit.
Melissa- she is so great. Get the Hummus! I wouldn’t have even bothered, but my friend told me about it. It is beyond words with the pita bread. I’ll be back. I had the udon carbonera- it was a newer dish- I loved it. The chefs here know culinary flavors. Beautiful place- good music and vibe! Well done.
