There is great pizza all over the world, but this potentially is the best pizzeria in the world. And that’s coming from somebody whose favorite food is pizza, is a bit of a pizza snob, and literally has traveled the world eating at the best pizzerias in the world. Atmosphere is dope and very Oakland. But you’re reading this because you’re curious about the pizza. It’s an amazing mix between traditional (Neapolitan from Naples, Italy), American (New York style pies and slices), and Oakland (sour dough crust). What we love about this place is that you can taste every ingredient with every bite. You might look at their menu and think that they aren’t offering a lot, but that’s by design. What they offer is extremely high-quality and extremely well done! They are focusing on quality over quantity, which is exactly what every person should want when they bite into a slice of pizza. I cannot stress this enough: Jones’s Pizza gives every other pizzeria in the world a true run for their money. Don’t sleep on this place.
Limited options. Margherita and a special that is often just adding pepperoni. But the pizza is great!!! I drive about 20 minutes to get there. It's worth it. One of the best pizza crusts ever!! Reheats in oven really well too! Try it!
Hidden gem pizza store of Oakland. In-house made sourdough crust, with all pizzas made freshly by hand and to table in 15 minutes. The pizza portions were large and plated well – the pizza was showered in Parmesan that gives it the Instagram worthy photo! They have seasonal flavors that rotate every month and they only make a limited amount of the seasonal pizzas each day. Pepperoni ($36): Strong tomato flavor accompanied by thick and spicy pieces of pepperoni. Large basil leaves are added to the top which give the pizza a refreshing taste after every bite and mellows out the saltiness of the pepperoni. Porcini Mushroom ($38): Extremely strong mushroom flavor with a light buttermilk white sauce to balance it out. Every few bites you get a hint of lemon zest and herbs. This was my favorite pizza of the day because it’s unique flavor and ingredients that aren’t found in traditional pizzas. I would come back to Junes once a month to try their specialty pizzas! Make sure to come with a friend because they don’t sell individual slices. Atmosphere: upon driving up to the restaurant, you would not think it’s a restaurant but instead an abandoned warehouse. Parking is extremely limited with tiny slots. Seating is also limited so recommended to order to go or come with only another person.
Excellent experience with Junes Pizza. After a recommendation from a coworker and checking out the instagram page and seeing the beautiful pizzas they make I was sure I had to come. A very unsuspecting exterior with simple signage it can be easy to miss but don’t be mistaken, the pizza is exceptional. They are on the higher end of pricing for a pizza. At the time of writing ~$32 for the Pizza Margherita and ~$36 for a pepperoni pizza, however I would say they are massive pizza’s and of incredibly high quality compared to the off the shelf / mass made pizza. I can finish a standard size pizza (if I want) by myself and I was feeling stuffed after half. The dough itself is a moderate thickness where you don’t feel like you’re stuffing yourself with bread but not so thin it feels like a thin crust so you feel like you’re getting a good pizza to sauce and cheese ratio. The dough and crust have a very good chew and the gluten has great structure requiring a nice bite to tear it. The pizza comes with a healthy serving of parm on the crust and an optional dipping sauce which greatly enhances the experience. I would say eating half the pizza and dipping with each bite I did run out of the sauce so if you want a dip with each bite I would probably go for two sauces. Junes offers an exceptional pizza and I would absolutely come back here regularly, the quality of the pizza experience is second to none
My quest for the East Bay's best pies led me to June's, and let me tell you, it more than lived up to the hype. The line snaked out of the restaurant on a Saturday evening, but this is no ordinary queue—it's a pilgrimage. With 20 minutes to wait, we found sanctuary next door at Brix Factory Brewing, where we sipped on an IPA and noticed almost every patron had a pizza box on their table. It was a beautiful preview of what was to come. The pizza itself was a masterpiece. The crust was a perfect blend of chewy and crisp, with just the right amount of char to give it a smoky, rustic finish. It was adorned with elegant ribbons of shaved Parmesan, which cascaded over the top like tinsel on a Christmas tree, along with a scattering of vibrant, fresh basil. But the real stars of the show were the hand-cut pepperoni. These little guys curled into delicious, crispy cups of flavor, cradling pools of savory oil in a way that just makes your soul sing. I came seeking a pie, and I found a work of art. I will absolutely be back to worship at the altar of June's pizza. Five stars, hands down!
