Was looking for a quick stop for lunch and came here due to the high reviews. Food was good, nothing spectacular. I had beef curry and the go-go roll, both were filling. I did ask if my curry could be made spicy and they provided me a small chili sauce thing that I could mix the curry with. It was fine but I was surprised to be charged $1 for a tiny saucer and so did my family members who also requested spice, as we were not told it would be an extra charge. Ambiance was cozy and welcoming. Staff were attentive. Prices were a bit high for the quality we got.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Kome Sushi in Austin never disappoints. The fish is always incredibly fresh, the flavors are well balanced, and the menu has a great variety whether you’re in the mood for classic rolls or something more adventurous. The service is friendly and efficient, even when they’re busy, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. Easily one of the best and most consistent sushi spots in Austin—I always leave happy and looking forward to my next visit.
Kome Sushi is hands down my absolute favorite sushi spot in Austin, TX. Simply incredible and will 100% be coming back! I started with their pork gyoza, and it was incredible. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and a great way to kick off the meal. For sushi, I went all in with four rolls and every one of them delivered. The Crunchy Dynamite roll with spicy tuna, avocado, tempura crunch, eel sauce, and sesame seeds had the perfect balance of heat and texture. The Alone Together roll was next level with tuna, salmon, and yellowtail topped with BBQ eel, go-go sauce, eel sauce, and tempura crunch. So rich and packed with flavor. The Summertime roll with spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, avocado, go-go sauce, and sesame seeds was fresh and satisfying. My last roll, the Midnight Sun, completely blew me away. Tempura fried with smoked salmon, cream cheese, avocado, candied jalapeño, sunflower seeds, and go-go sauce. Absolute perfection with the perfect sweet and spicy kick. Everything was fresh, beautifully prepared, and bursting with flavor. If you love sushi and are in Austin, Kome Sushi is a must. I cannot recommend this place enough.
My friend and I are visiting Austin from out of town and decided to stop at Komé for a casual lunch today because of all the on line recommendations for the restaurant. While everything was amazing, I really want to highlight the staff and, especially, our waitress (I am so sorry, I forgot your name despite asking for it a second time). She was prompt, very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable of the menu, giving us great suggestions when asked. Of course, all the other staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful, as well. As on line individuals described, the food came out quickly, while respecting our coursing, and delicious. Everything was, obviously, also of great quality despite being so affordable. We started off with the "aji fry" which was perfectly breaded, had a nice tender texture, and paired perfectly with the tartar sauce accompanying it. My friend ordered the "kitsune udon" and thoroughly enjoyed it with a side of steamed rice. I ordered the "chirashi-don", which our waitress recommended and had a variety of sashimi and definitely did not skimp out on the seafood. Everything on it was very fresh. It came with some "miso soup;" I usually don't care for miso soup, but this was very refreshing and subtle (I've had miso soup elsewhere that is too overpowering in flavor) and felt perfect as the temperatures start dropping. I also ordered the "tarantula" signature roll to share with my friend. The roll is "only" five pieces, but each piece is huge and stuffed with shrimp tempura and softshell crab. The ratio of rice to the "filling" was perfect. Definitely doable for some as a meal alone. To end, this was a great experience and I would definitely come back if I find myself back in the Austin area. And the establishment, as amazing as the food and decor is, is very lucky to have the waitress who served us among the staff.
I don’t 100% know where I fall on Kome. I think it’s absolutely fine. The bao was fine. The udon curry was fine. The Surf N Turf roll was fine but unnecessarily large. No individual part was particularly spectacular. Our server, Alex, was great. People rave about Kome and so I think it’s probably worth making a decision for yourself. I’ve seen this place be absolutely packed with long waits but I don’t think I could tell you why.
