My friend rented a boat for the duration of 1 week from kumbaya boat rental. The boat was to be used for water sports during our lake holiday. He hauled it 6 hours to our destination. We were able to use the boat for 2 days (paid for a full week). On the third morning, the boat started to emit a terrible burning smell. The boat stalled in the middle of the lake and would not restart. We were forced to get it towed back to shore and there it remained for the duration of our trip. Kumbaya rental company refuses to acknowledge or refund us our money.
Sure it was easy to rent the boat online and pay online, however the rest was a gong show. Wanted a day of fishing with my dad and son, so we rented the legend. First when I received my confirmation email I assumed it would be detailed. It was not. I had questions like what size ball was required for the trailer? We rented for the day so, when did it have to be back? Etc. I didn’t get answers. They called me a couple days later, where I had to ask my questions again. They sent me the GPS coordinates for pick up which isn’t the address on the website. Wasn’t expecting that, took an 1-1/2h to get there. They asked when I wanted to pick it up I said 8am. The guy sighs that’s awful early, but we agree on nine. Then the day before they try and push it until 10, then guy was late getting there to meet us. We wanted to spend the day fishing not driving around. When we got to the boat it was dirty with leaves and debris, was missing a cup holder insert, the battery was dead or so they thought. Fine we’ll pull start it no problem. Get to the lake finally and without the battery the hydraulics didn’t work. Wasted another hour packing our gear back up and taking the boat over to the marina down the highway from where we were. They pulled the battery out found it to have loose connections and rusty terminals. We got that cleaned up and the boat finally hit the water almost four hours after we picked it up. Later that evening we dropped the boat back off and I was told they would make it up to us for time lost. It’s been a week and haven’t heard a peep. So two stars because the booking process was easy the rest was a complete gong show.
I had reserved a boat for rental and the guys were excellent with giving info and replying to messages. We actually ended up not needing the boat so KUMBAYA sent us back the deposit. Totally recommend them just on the dealing we had, good communication.
I rented the Tracker V16 Laker for a 3-day fishing trip. The guys at Kumbaya boat rentals were great to deal with. They are very personable. The Tracker is a great fishing boat, very stable and was plenty of room for 3 anglers. We fished various depths and water conditions, and it took it all. including when the wind picked up and the water was a bit angry. The tracker cut through the white caps and maintained its stability. I would absolutely rent from Kumbaya again. Thank you, was a great weekend of fishing had by us all. Dave
Easy rental experience. Boat was clean, well maintained and a ton of fun. Was a total hit during our cabin trip. Recommend Kumbaya Boat Rentals for anybody in the Edmonton area. Will use again.
