I brought my wedding dress which is 2 sizes too big and the woman told me that she wouldn’t have chosen that dress and that I should get another dress and a different style. ???? I already bought the dress, it’s not like I can just go back and return it and get another one. All the other alterations places I’ve been to told me they could work on it so I don’t get what was going on here.

Frankly this place does more than just tailoring -- they do full-on holistic analysis of your clothing and execute absolutely artful techniques to make your store-bought clothes fit like they were custom-designed for your body. I'd had success there with having waistbands taken in & pants hemmed, so I took in a multi-layered black tie dress for basic altering and Vera pointed out that there was some gapping between the straps and my back -- tbh that's the kind of thing I've just grown accustomed to with the quality of clothing today, and I didn't want to pay a ton extra for something that I'd convinced myself only I would really notice, but when she showed me how much more elegant it would look and how cheaply she could do it, I trusted her, and I'm SO GLAD I did! I'll have to take before & after pictures next time. I'm also very impressed that they can repair stretchy knit materials as well since some tailors can not. I had moth holes in a cashmere sweater but really didn't want to throw out something so nice, and they completely seamlessly mended/darned it -- you can't see where the holes used to be at all! Highly recommend for any of your clothing alterations needs =]

The ladies at Old Country Tailor did the alterations on my wedding dress and the fit was perfect! A different local shop had quoted me over $600 for the alterations and Vera and her crew got it done for almost half of that price. The other shop also tried to sell me on adding a bustle but when discussing it with Vera, she explained to me how the cut of my dress wouldn’t allow a bustle and that it wouldn’t look good and would not be good for the dress. I appreciated her honestly and that she didn’t just add the bustle since I had asked. These ladies are trustworthy, professional and affordable. Highly recommend for any garment but especially a wedding dress.
