read the other one star comments from other people as they are spot on! Truly disappointing experiences time after time trying to get animals groomed here. I have been to multiple Petsmart locations and this is the only one that makes up a different excuse as to why they will not groom your animal. First, they asked for updated rabies information which was provided but since our dog was adopted in a different state they would not accept the rabies certificate because they ”were not familiar with the layout” are you serious? You are a paid pet service worker but cannot read a rabies certificate? Well, after a while it was finally deemed acceptable by management then the dog was denied because of a small cut on his paws which apparently goes against policy to bathe an animal with a cut, (even though other locations have bathed our other dog that had a scrape on her leg in the past, even offered to clean it out really good free of charged if we wanted.) Fine. So we left and took our dog to the vet and got cleaners and other antibiotics to clean the wounds and let them heal. Flash forward to about 6 weeks later when the wounds are completely healed, just some rough skin, the groomers made me feel guilty about bringing him back (since apparently they use sandpaper to bathe dogs and can open the wounds again) and made me stand there (while about 5 other customers were waiting to be checked in) and they took a vote A VOTE on whether they think it’s safe to take my dog for a bath. they finally decided to take him and within 15 minutes called me in a panic saying they would not bathe him since he was being aggressive and they felt unsafe. He’s a puppy and is still not 100% trained so I did not ask questions and went to pick him up. When I got there I said I was here to pick him up and they made me leave and walk around for 10 minutes because they couldn’t figure out how to call for backup since the other groomers were in appointments and couldn’t run to the back get my dog. When I finally asked for clarification on how he was aggressive I was told “he was biting the water and hoses” to which I replied “I feel like that’s pretty normal behavior of dogs at a groomer and professional groomers should be able to handle that, I certainly have had groomers in the past be able to handle much more than that.” To which I was told half-heartedly that they can deny for whatever they want and to bring him back when trained. As multi-pet owners who spend thousands of dollars annually at Petsmart. This location, specifically the grooming salon, needs retraining or to hire groomers that can actually do the job they are hired to do because the “policy” they always bring up seems to be different from petsmart policy at other locations.
It felt like I was being grilled about why I was at the vet. Our vet cleared my dog for a bath after her spay. They still refused to groom her, even though the vet who’s PETSMARTS VET said it was fine.
The staff was extremely helpful. Great store, filled with great things for pets. Training, vets.
Worst experience at a grooming salon, ever! Terrible experience at this PetSmart grooming salon. The groomers, especially Melissa P., were rude, unprofessional, and clearly didn’t want to do their jobs. I’ve been a loyal PetSmart customer for 6 years with my 160-lb Newfoundland, Bruce. They have all his info online and claim to handle large dogs, yet Melissa made every possible excuse not to groom him. My first appointment was canceled because I was 15 minutes late (try moving a 160-lb dog who wanted to stay asleep). I rescheduled, arrived early the next time, and still waited 30 minutes because the groomer was “nowhere to be found.” When she finally showed up, she complained about his size and his pre-existing joint issue and said she “couldn’t take him.” After she finally agreed to groom him, I was charged twice $10 “big dog handling” and “waiting” fees—despite arriving exactly when I said I would which was 30 minutes after I got the call from Melissa that Bruce was ready to be picked up. It’s not about the $20, it’s about the attitude, excuses, and lack of professionalism from Melissa P. If this location can’t handle large dogs, they should say so clearly online instead of wasting customers’ time. If this groomer hates her job then she should quit and get a new job instead of treating loyal PetSmart customers poorly. Definitely not the level of service I expect from PetSmart and if I could give it 0 stars I would. The reason I gave one star because store manager Jesse reimbursed us the grooming charges after hearing what I had to say and he instantly knew that I was right and their employee Mellisa P. couldn’t be more unprofessional.
This is a review from my dog Niko. Niko says five stars because they let me come in on a leash. They give me treats. There are lots of good smells. I inspect for damaged dog food bags and there were none.
