This happened at the Austin location but the instructor was from the San Antonio location so I’m typing this here. This happened on September 29 (or perhaps 28 or the 30th?), 2024 (It was on a Sunday). The instructor was covering for Steve Dixon. I was making mistakes and the instructor was yelling at me such as when I inserted an OPA wrong he yelled, “TAKE THAT OFF OF MY MANIKIN NOW!!!” Also when I had missed a step on the CPR exam, he yelled at me repeatedly, “STOP STOP!!” Not only did I feel discouraged but I also felt sad and on the brink of crying. His yelling even triggered my trauma so I was also afraid of making another mistake and making him even angrier even though he already was angry. He yelled at me for forgetting the right dosage for a medication and scolded me for it. When I missed a step on inserting an OPA, he pointed out that I needed to measure it with the angle of the jaw and he asked me, “does that sound familiar?” I said, “yes”, then he said with a smart alec, rude tone; “yeahhhh” and put the palm of his hand over his face. He had covered his face with his hand out of frustration repeatedly throughout the exam. I understand this is a serious field to get into but that did not give him the right to act so unprofessional and make me feel so discouraged. He acted as if I was intentionally vandalizing the equipment which of course I wasn’t. I wish I had reported him sooner and get a refund because I did not pay to have my trauma triggered and get yelled at for making some mistakes as a student taking a test. He was so disrespectful to me and his behavior toward me was inappropriate and inexcusable. He was yelling loud that I was certain the other students in the other room could hear everything, either way I felt humiliated. I haven’t been able to get this day out of my head since, and had to look for counseling because of this exact day. I would’ve expected better and will not take this course again and certainly will not recommend this course to anyone.
The class was great! Our instructor was very knowledgeable and gave well thought-out real-life scenarios to apply to our training. He answered all questions effectively and provided a lot of clarity to the material we were learning. If I ever decide to further my education I will definitely go back to RC Health Services.
Pauly is an incredible and entertaining teacher. He’s deeply knowledgeable about the subject matter and had me laughing throughout the whole thing. He’s real and made a 7 hour class not only bearable but interesting and fun. I highly, highly recommend taking a class led by him.
Had an excellent class with Meghan. She brought her experience in as paramedic to the class. The session was smooth and enjoyable.
Meghan was awesome! The combination of The AHA curriculum videos and specific takeaways made the information really easy to learn. Plus having the skills training from a veteran clinician makes all the difference. 5 STARS! I just wanted to add I live in Austin and I took the short drive to San Antonio because this class was two weeks sooner than the next Austin class and I couldn't wait. So I really recommend that anybody in either city check out both calendars. Thanks Meghan and RC Health Services! LA
