I joined Sigma swimming in 2023 after a car accident. I tried various treatments to improve my strength after my accident to help me get back to work but nothing worked. My therapist suggested swimming and I found Sigma. I have a fear of drowning and it was a big challenge for me to try to learn swimming. I addressed my fear to Perry my wonderful coach and he assured me that it's not going to happen. He proved it to me with exercises and he won my trust. In two days I was able to do something incredible. Perry and Patty coached me and took me to the deep end and convinced me that I can jump off the ledge at 12 feet. They made me do a couple of exercises to show me how to get comfortable in the water once I jump in and then I did it. It was a huge win for me. I am incredibly grateful to Perry and all my coaches at Sigma for helping me get where I am today. I not only regained my strength back, but started going back to work and was able to get my life back together. Thank you so much for everything. Each of you are special and I still refer my patients and friends to Sigma swimming.
A dear friend recommended me to try Signa out due to my past traumas experiences. I went to the Drowning Prevention class. Going into the class I was fearful on drowning, going under water, opening my eyes under water, and I did not believe that I could float! Long story short, I left the class floating on my back and stomach, going under with, partially swimming with my arms from a floated position, and opening my eyes underwater with goggles. This was an amazing and highly effective class. All the staff members were nice, gentle, patient, and supportive. I highly recommend Sigma for your swimming needs/lessons.
I've been looking for an adult swimming class coz I didn't know how to swim. A friend sent me the URL for a 3 hour adult survival swimming class and I signed up. What can one learn in 3 hours? A lot! Our group was about 12 adults and there were 4 coaches. The coaches were great in explaining how our body works in water. They did a demo after explaining what we needed to do and monitored how we did the exercise. They gave feedback on what we need to correct. With this class, I learned techniques. I was finally able to swim a distance using a back float. I was not able to do that before this class. (I just floated and that was it.) This class helps build ones confidence and comfort-level in water. Thank you coaches!
We did not have a good experience with Sigma Swim. We choose them for their low ratios of however, since we started it has been problem after problem. They didn't start on time due to not having enough coaches so now it looks like from a parent point of few you have enrolled too many students to the amount of coaches you have which seems disorganized. Then maybe 2 weeks in our original facility broke down so now classes are canceled again. Then we were moved to a facility double the amount of time away which was confusing to get to and over crowded. My daughter only had the same coach twice and just gets put with random coaches. Once our original facility was finally fixed now coaches are sick so again classes are canceled. Then we were let known that during the winter months their pools are not heated and suggested to buy our child a wet suit to keep her warm since the water will be cold and that the facility they are at is through a college may or may not keep up with the pool during the cooler months. If you are offering year round classes then it should be comfortable for the students to get into as my child left the last class told me she was freezing at class. Our site manager is not very welcoming and the first time I emailed her was then told to just check the app. The site manager also looks to due soon to having a baby and is giving swim lessons to an older student which walking around the outside of the pool which doesn't seem to be very safe. I let the company know we no longer want to take our daughter here due to the problems we have had and now they will not refund the last half of this month which I don't think it right to do with the amount of cancelations they have had and facility movement which was still charged for.
I’m in my 50s and never learned to swim. I’m not terrified of water, but signing up for an adult class definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone. I joined their 3-hour adult drowning-prevention intro to see if this program could be the right path toward making swimming a regular fitness habit. What surprised me most was the format. Before anyone touched the pool, we had a calm, plain-English discussion about how water works—buoyancy, body position, breath. It took the mystery (and a lot of the nerves) out of it. In the pool, the instructors guided us through simple experiments: how exhaling changes your float, how to let the water support you, and how small movements move you through the water. It felt more like discovery than “drills,” and the tone stayed relaxed and encouraging the whole time. I left feeling lighter—both physically and mentally. The team clearly loves teaching adults, and that passion shows in how patient, thoughtful, and fun they make the experience. I went in to “check it out”; I’m coming back because it gave me real confidence and a clear next step. If you’ve ever thought it might be too late to learn, it isn’t. Highly recommend.
