I know almost nowhere that can compete with how amazing this straders is specifically. The staff is amazing, the person helping in the greenhouse helped me find my dream cactus, and the cashier made sure to package everything well and got us plastic took keep it together as well. The houseplants selection is the best for the price and quality. This is where you should buy!
Great prices on Xmas trees. Half the cost of what Oakland charges. Friendly staff. Bought trees here two years in a row.
Honestly, I have no idea what kind of a day other people are having, but I got some of THE BEST customer service when I stopped by Strader's today. I was greeted, approached, and asked if I needed help by every employee I saw. Not only that I had questions about a variety of different plants (Yucca, Monstera, Bonsai, Succulents, Begonias, and more) and every person I spoke to was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and informative! I forgot the lovely blonde gentleman's name, but he and a coworker with shorter teal hair and glasses were amazing and answered all my questions and gave plenty of encouragement and advice. My opinion is that if you need help, you have to ask for it. Yeah, you should still be greeted and asked for help, but in my experience with customer service: not a single soul wanted me to say hi and ask them if they need anything and would have preferred to be left alone to shop. Idk I think a lot of people are getting their tightie whities in a twist not being catered to hand and foot, but that might just be me. 🤷♀️ Only doing 4 starts because there is some legitimacy to the prices on some plants, but not all and not every product are over priced and rare plants are called rare for a reason and COVID surely didn't help that either with the uptick in demand as new plant parents popped up left and right. My advice: Just ask if you need help and continue asking questions until you find the person with the answers. You might have to ask a couple employees, but they are so nice and knowledgeable. I have no idea what kind of a day these other people were having, but I think it may be more of a them issue than one with the customer service here. Just my two cents on the matter. 🤷♀️Also, they just have so many cool plants, it's a wonderland in there!
They have a great selection of indoor and outdoor plants, but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired, and their prices can be very steep. I went in today and there were a lot of employees working, setting up the store for spring time. Not one ever greeted or asked if I needed help. When checking out, the cashier would’ve said nothing if she could. There is very little appreciation for their customer base, which now a days can really set a business apart from others. Their plants are top notch and look great, however, nearly every indoor plant is double the price of what I can buy somewhere else. The only reason I purchase indoor plants from here is due to their selection. They have many things that I cannot find somewhere else. The experience I had today may have ended my days shopping at this nursery. There are others, like Oakland nursery nearby, that have a similar selection, and better customer service. They leave a lot to be desired and can improve a customer’s experience very easily if they wanted.
I went here for soil but there were out of almost everything so instead I purchased a Nephthytis, Alocasia Silver Dragon and a Snake plant. Brought them home and went to start wiping them down (I like to gently clean the dust and dirt off of new plants I acquire) and upon doing so on the first plant (alocasia), I spotted the dreadful mealy bug under one of the leaves. Checked the second plant, more mealy bugs and checked the third briefly and saw male mealies flying around the leaves. I understand that these things happen sometimes but I feel like inspecting their plants is within reason and could at least prevent the mealy bugs from infecting a bunch of others too. Super bummed because they do have a good variety and I was excited about the ones I picked out. The lady at the register who was not friendly at all, either day I visited. I went back the day after I purchased the plants to return them because I have a lot of healthy plants at home that I didn’t want to risk infecting. The cashier called for the manager and she was also not friendly at all. I told her what happened and she said nothing to me, just began pulling the plants out to inspect them. I had cleaned the first one off already so I assumed there might not be any on that one, I left the mealy bugs on the nephthytis and I didn’t bother thoroughly looking at the snake plant because I saw males on it and it was sitting next to the alocasia on the shelf. She did issue me a refund but there is no warranty on house plants (per the receipt) and she seemed very reluctant to issue me the refund so I wouldn’t count on any sort of assurance from this place if you buy plants from here and take them home. Regardless of what is wrong with them. Inspect your plants thoroughly from here before you decide to purchase to avoid the same experience I did.
