We previously had ordered food to pickup from this place. It took nearly 30 min longer than the online estimate, but I chalked it up to them being busy. I was wrong, service was just slow. We just spent about 2 hrs eating dinner with our 3 small children and so we will not be returning soon. I ordered edamame, chicken satay, California roll, wonton soup and orange roll and my husband ordered another soup and different roll. Food is good but took forever. Even the edamame was probably nearly 30 minutes before we got it. The chicken satay and soups then came out about 15-20 min later. Edamame portion felt small but otherwise we enjoyed this. The California roll came out first, and was for the kids as well so grateful the waitress brought it out but was still a while till we got our other 2 rolls. We ordered a side of chicken fried rice because after all that, our kids were still hungry. It was a solid 2 hrs for something that should have taken about half that. Everyone was pleasant and it was busy but not packed. Meanwhile there were two people making giant sushi boats that I guess were for their after party because there was no one ordering sushi boats that large in the restaurant. Hopefully they can improve their service and perhaps eventually we may try again, but it will be a long while.
Surprisingly slow service. But the food was good and the portions were large.
This was delivery, so no stars for Atmosphere. Everything was delivered as ordered and on time. Food was well packaged and arrived hot. I ordered too much so we filled up on the delicious appetizers and will feast on the Fried Rice and Pad Thai tonight. Can’t wait to dine at their restaurant.
They have 4.4 stars? How?! That’s literally what I told my fiancé after our terrible experience at Sushi Naiya. From the moment we walked in, the experience was underwhelming. There was no warm greeting—just a blunt “how many?” The chairs at our table were noticeably dirty, and the restaurant was clearly understaffed. Only two servers were covering the entire floor, and since they weren’t assigned specific tables, the service felt chaotic and inefficient. When someone finally approached us, the waiter didn’t introduce himself or welcome us. He simply asked if we wanted waters, dropped them off, and then never returned to the table for the rest of our meal. The female server eventually noticed us looking around and stepped in to take our order. We tried to start with steamed dumplings, only to be told they were out—without any alternative offered. So we moved on to entrées. My fiancé ordered the spicy drunken noodles (which came with zero spice), and I ordered the massaman curry, advertised as being served with avocado and sweet potato. What I received was a curry full of carrots and maybe two tiny 1” pieces of sweet potato. Even when I mentioned the issue, the waitress had me stir around the dish to “find” the sweet potato, despite it being obvious that it wasn’t prepared as described. The only positive note: the food, while not what was advertised, still tasted good. But between the lackluster service, the cleanliness issues, and the misleading menu descriptions, we will not be returning.
Our experience at Sushi Naiya was wonderful. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a good conversation and share a nice dinner. My favorite dish was the beef ramen with a touch of spice — it had the perfect flavor balance. The waiter was very attentive and told us that they have live music on weekends, which makes us want to come back to enjoy it. The only thing that could be improved is the fish tanks — the fish need better filters and some cleaning to remove the green algae.
