Great service, could actually sample some of the drinks before you buy it, biggest selection I've ever seen... the whiskey sampling actually got me to change my mind from my typical goto beverage and tried something new! Great atmosphere, selection is almost overwhelming, but the staff is well versed in every category of alcohol. Would highly recommend this to anyone who hasn't been here before! A++++
Manager and staff were rude. The manager appears very childish and enjoys getting into altercations with customers. I saw her arguing with an older male customer prior to my situation. I was shopping around Hamilton Town Center with my friend before she had to go pick up her kids. I told her I was going to go into Total Wine to get some wine that I’m only able to find there. She said alright and went to look around while I got what I wanted. While at checkout, the cashier refused to allow me to buy anything until “the girl I came in with showed her ID”. My friend already left to go pick up her kids at this point so I stood there confused and dumbfounded on why it mattered if I’m the one purchasing and she clearly is already gone. The manager told me the same and that I won’t be allowed to purchase anything until she comes back. I tried explaining that while I stood there I watched the cashier not ID over 15 people and some of them looked to be a lot younger than my friend and I. The manager stated “it’s up to each cashier’s discretion” and didn’t see an issue with me being singled out or the fact that my friend had already left. I understand wanting to avoid youth being sold alcohol however my friend is 30 and has never been mistaken or questioned for being under 21 until this experience so all they did in this scenario is waste the time of a once loyal customer. Start requesting ID’s at the door to eliminate this issue. The manager is doing nothing other than arguing with customers and creating issues so it shouldn’t be a huge lift for her to check each person. I don’t think I’ll go back at this point. The situation was ridiculous and it appeared as if the manager and staff enjoyed making a scene out of nothing. The blonde manager could really learn to be nicer to individuals. Tip for everyone: don’t go into the store at the same time as anyone or they might refuse service until that person comes up to the register.
They've dwindled their selection on local/ state winery selections- it used to be larger. It'd be nice if it would expand and try to reach more businesses. Also, today I noticed there were brochures of different countries- being in Indiana, why not have a brochure or flyer with all the different wineries in the state? On a positive note, for the first time, I had a manager stop and ask if I needed anything. Not once, but twice.
Honestly not the type to leave reviews but I feel like it’s necessary. The 2 ladies that were working tonight were unbelievably rude. I ran into a friend in the parking lot with the intention of only me buying alcohol and a quick walk and talk with her. Anyway, I did go in there a couple minutes prior to close. That is my fault. I forgot that it is a Sunday and hours are different. I also understand that they were about to close and had a long day. However, the manager I presume chased us to the back of the store to let us know they close in 3 minutes. No big deal. As mentioned in the beginning my friend and I ran into each other in the parking lot. She ended up getting a phone call, told me bye and started to head out the doors. The cashier then yelled out to her “Don’t run off. I need to ID you as well.” The tone she used was very rude. I’m at this point confused as of why she needed to Id my friend who followed me into the store yet we left separately. She called the manager over and she was no better. Asked my friend who very clearly didn’t have a purse on her better yet her Id. “I need to see your Id” when we replied saying her purse was in her vehicle then they proceeded to say that they couldn’t sell to me. Once again I’m confused as of why my friend who once again ran into me in the parking lot who Clearly wasn’t buying anything was accused of “running off” and refused the sell for me that had nothing to do with her. I put the wine bottles on the belt and said “have a great day.” And left. As a person who works in customer service I can say I’ve never seen such terrible attitudes out of employees. Not sure anything will be done about this but highly doubt I’ll return to this location.
