I visited Umi Japanese Steakhouse for the first time, and overall it was a mixed experience. The outside entrance could definitely use a bit more attention, as it wasn’t as clean or inviting as I expected. When we walked in, the entry area also looked like it needed some tidying up—especially the carpet, which could benefit from a good vacuuming. On the positive side, the staff greeted us warmly and seated us very quickly. I was excited for the hibachi presentation, and the chef did not disappoint—the show was fun and engaging. However, the food itself was noticeably salty. It seems like they use salted butter along with regular soy sauce, which made the dishes saltier than they needed to be. With a lighter hand on the salt, I would have enjoyed it much more. Our server, Joanne, was very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. We ordered sushi, fried calamari, and hibachi entrées. The calamari was mostly batter with very little calamari inside, and the sushi was just okay. (Personally, I think Kimono still has the best sushi in that area.) The hibachi was decent, but again, the saltiness took away from the overall flavor. Would I return? Not necessarily for the food alone. But if you’re looking for a lively hibachi show and a fun dining experience, this might be a good place to go.

I was my first time at this location. It was recommended to me by my cousin. You can have hibachi or you can just order your meal prepared. I choose a bento box which includes a little of everything. They offer a variety of sushi roll. They have mocktails for individuals not drinking alcohol. The server was quick and attentive. The location decor was nice and location looked clean. The food was also good.

Food was good, the cook was great, service could have been better... we waited a bit for all: drinks, refills, the tab, then we had to wait because server messed up the ticket. Yes they charge tip for large parties so be on the lookout for that, we weren't told like other places do, but we expected with a large party to see a gratuity charge.

The food here was SO good. We had soups, sashimi, rolls, gyoza, rock shrimp and tataki. Our waitress was very prompt and attentive. First visit and it definitely made a good impression that I will definitely be coming back for more.
