Better than the “top” spa In Vegas. Excellent customer service and clients are also comfortable with their bodies so it makes you feel confident as well. Will definitely become one of my go to’s in San Diego now.
First time visiting Yu Spa and I had a great experience. The staff was very friendly, the place was clean, and the services were excellent. I went for a body scrub and massage, which included a facial and hair shampoo, and everything was incredibly relaxing and well done. One of my favorite parts was being able to use all of the amenities for two hours after my service—it really made the experience feel complete and unhurried. The hot tubs, sauna, and steam room were soothing and a perfect way to unwind and recharge. You do have to be completely nude in those areas, which took a little getting used to, but no one seems to care and it quickly feels normal. There are separate sections for men and women for these amenities, plus a co-ed clothed area where you can snack and relax. Overall, a very calming and stress-relieving experience. I’ll definitely be going back.
Very mid experience for the money. Also if you are not a gay man you may feel a little out of place. I'm not homophobic but when the first thing you see when you walk into the mens locker room is every man fully naked walking around and then you see signs on the steam and sauna doors that say SEXUAL ACTS ARE PROHIBITED AND YOU WILL BE BANNED AND PROSECUTED you wonder what is going on behind those doors. The steam room was way overcrowded as was the jacuzzi. They have to sell some kind of monthly pass or something because it didn't seem like everyone was getting a treatment. The body scrub was ok, not great. First time there and won't be back.
Enough time has passed and I think I’m ready to post this. Before.. I was fearful of retaliation of some kind. Or worried I would never be allowed back for one of my favorite types of massages.. but here we go! Ok. So the last few years for my birthday, I have treated myself to a very out of my budget massage and body exfoliant at yu spa, as a gift to myself. I can not stress how rare and special somthing like this is to me. Anyone who has been here, knows how it works.. but when you first go in, you go through the ladies locker room and into a women’s only areas with not and cold tubs, showers and saunas, while you wait for your massage (if you are getting a wet massage). There is a lot of nudity (both in the locker room and the sauna spa area. But particularly in the spa area. No one is clothed. At first I was mortified at the notion of being naked in front of all those people after losing 150 lbs lol. But ultimately decided screw it! I am proud and don’t know these people.. so who cares. It was awkward for me the first time I went, but the massage was well worth it. So fast forward to my last birthday. This would be the 3rd or 4th time visiting the spa and spending upwards of $200 (I would have all my family and friends chip in as my gift). There is supposedly a very strict “no phones” policy in the areas I mentioned earlier. So I am changed out of all my clothes and in the sauna area. I finish showering and am getting ready to get in the hot tub, as naked as the day I was born, but a lot more flabby haha, and I look up.. and what do I see… there, standing in the doorway of the sauna area (from the locker room) I see a woman fully clothed and filming or taking pictures of us in this area. Panning the room with her phone up in from of her. I don’t know if she was taking a video, a picture, video chatting or what! I kinda shouted hey!.. but she didn’t here me and retreated into the locker room. I get out of the tub (which I had only got feet deep into), grabbed a tiny towel and covered my bits. I quickly went into the locker room searching for an employee. Checked the bathrooms, walked back and forth a few times etc. saw NO ONE. So now I’m thinking to myself.. do I runout into the lobby almost completely naked?.. do I dry off and get dressed and go to the front desk to find and employee (and risk missing my appt altogether)? I’m already missing all my sauna and not tub time, with is annoying given how much money I spent, and that this was my only gift to myself and from family.. I was almost at my appt time so I opted to return to the sauna area to wait for my massage because what was done was already done.. and I now probably couldn’t identify her regardless as the only defining characteristic initially was “dark hair and a teal sweatshirt, with a phone blocking view of her face”. When I went into the locker room I only saw naked or half naked women. No teal sweatshirt. And trust me.. I looked lol. So anyways. When I get called back moments after all this, I tried to tell 2 of the massage therapists what happened, but they spoke little English, and I could tell they didn’t understand… second have coming!!… too long to post!
Yu Spa isn’t about luxury or high-end pampering, it’s about pure relaxation, great steam and sauna options, and impeccable cleanliness. Everything here is well-maintained, with staff constantly cleaning, which makes my experience even more enjoyable every time. What I love most is how much time I can spend here: sometimes 4 to 5 hours, fully unwinding in the variety of saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzi, and cold plunge. There’s something about staying long enough for your body to really release serotonin that makes the relaxation feel deep and lasting. And the vibe here allows for this type of relaxation. I’ve been to more elevated, luxury-focused spas, and consider myself a spa aficionado, and Yu Spa is the only spa in San Diego that lets you get this type of long spa day. I still have to try massage and scrub service, but I know what to expect: the vibe is very practical and very matter of fact here. Imagine, I spent 4.5 hours here without a service - just the use of the facilities! 😂 If you’re looking for a spot to truly reset, Yu Spa can be a great option.
