I love Faria Bakery’s pastries. The almond croissant is good but too flaky for me, and not enough almond paste. Pain a chocolate is amazing. Their tarts and cream puffs are always spectacular and they base the flavors on the season. I also like their milk bread. Their lattes are alright. I like the atmosphere inside is cute and has a lot of good seating. I find their service to be a hit or miss. Sometimes the workers there greet you and are nice and sometimes they don’t and are closed off.
Amazing Pastries. A Little Pricy but worth it! 😋 FYI Faria Moved - Next door. Lots more seating! Inside and out. Huge outdoor patio
Saw this place online, looked like a cute spot to grab coffee and pastries so we went. They actually moved buildings so it’s not the cool looking skinny building anymore. It’s the building next to it. The vide inside this place was dead. There was a lady making drinks, didn’t look up to welcome or greet us. Didn’t bother to ask us if we needed any help. We saw they had 3 self service tablets so we ordered our drinks. They were out of pastries already since it was 11AM so we couldn’t try any. There was NO interaction with the employee behind the counter. When she called my name for the drinks I was trying to say thanks but she turned away quickly as if trying to avoid contact. This kind of behavior is what’s going to kill the business. Our drinks tasted fine but might have been better with friendlier service. We are trying to support local and small businesses but this kind of experience makes me want to stick with my usual spot.
Okay, so the bread is always a little on the dark side and the servers can be sassy. It doesn’t change the fact that everything is delicious! I have had their bread many times and have never felt it was too “burned” to enjoy. It can make it slightly bitter around the crusts and a little more chewy, but it’s still edible and enjoyable. I got a piece of miso toast with jam to go this morning and regardless of its color, every bite was fantastic.
EDIT: I grabbed a black sesame morning bun and an olive loaf at the market on Capitol Mall last Wednesday. The bun was a 10/10 perfect and heavenly. Olive loaf was on the darker side for the outer crust (the slightest burnt taste), but inside tasted good and after toasting I barely noticed. Good Basque cheesecake. Melon soda tasted like calpis in the best way possible. Great service. Cute interior. Next time I'll grab an olive loaf.
