As a practitioner of Iyengar Yoga for many years, I was delighted to find that - entirely by coincidence - Hamilton Yoga was a five-minute walk from our accomodation when visiting NSW from WA, staying in Newcastle for a couple of nights. The building is just perfect and David's kind and welcoming nature (and that of his students) and his competence at the art of Yoga enhanced my trip a great deal - and I only attended one class! Highly recommended.
Authentic, accessible and enjoyable yoga. After moving to Newcastle last year, I have become a regular and now attend a few classes a week. David and Candace are outstanding teachers who are generous is sharing their love of yoga. The studio is a calm space, and I have found the other students to be very friendly. With classes ranging from beginner to advanced there is an opportunity for everyone.
This is a fantastic yoga school. All of the staff are knowledgeable, professional and exude warmth and friendliness. The vibe is non-judgemental and encouraging. For students that have not been to yoga before, the beginners classes are an excellent introduction and David lives and breathes the ethos that every 'body' can do yoga!
I was travelling from British Columbia and came across this yoga studio. Iyengar yoga is much harder to find where I live, and I was very excited to try it out. As a fairly seasoned practitioner, I was humbled by this practice. We practiced shoulder stands, handstands, and head stands. David was extremely patient and supportive and helped me with my form write down to making sure my thumbs were in the shape of the Sydney Harbour Bridge to support my head in a head stand! I wish I had more time to attend the studio again. My family was making fun of me, as I was raving Relentlessly about this practice! It was a great practice and I highly recommend taking in a class, even if you are just passing through. The schedule was straight forward and Online payment and check-in was a breeze.
I've been attending this yoga studio, on and off, for over twenty years. It may be daunting as a male to take up this practice. If concerned, I would highly recommend this school. Dave is an experienced Iyenga Teacher. He is friendly, down to earth and on occasion very funny. If you are looking for something alternative to keep you fit, healthy and a way to stretch out those muscles, this is the place for you. If you are interested in yoga, the Iyenga way is great for beginners, right through to advanced Practitioners. Highly recommended!
