If you love a great steakhouse, Boston has far better options than this. After spending roughly $500 on dinner for two, I expected a polished, special experience. Abe & Louie’s delivered neither. Instead, what we experienced was a series of amateur mistakes that should never happen at this price point. We were seated upstairs and I immediately noticed dirty, water-spotted wine glasses, greasy silverware, and a stained, food-splattered menu. The dirty dishes became a theme throughout the meal, with multiple dishes being hand delivered still having specs of debris on them, or being wet out of the dishwasher. Gross. For drinks, my partner ordered a dirty martini and I got a signature cocktail, their cucumber martini. My cucumber martini arrived without any sweetness at all. I later overheard the bartender say it was his third shift. While my very kind server comped the drink, this is obviously a training error. An established restaurant charging premium prices should not be training bartenders on paying guests. The dirty martini was good, but the restaurant’s known to provide the strained rocks in an “extra” glass. That didn’t arrive until his second refill. For appetizers, we ordered the 4oz A5 wagyu ($125) and lobster dumplings. The wagyu had excellent flavor but was ice-cold in the center despite being ordered medium-rare. The dumplings were overcooked and rubbery. The ingredients were clearly high quality, they just totally missed on execution. The steaks themselves were cooked properly, but massively over-salted. The dish’s presentation was so boring that I didn’t even bother to snap a pic. Just a steak on a plate. You would think if we’re ordering “enhancements” like sauces and sides, they should present the dish accordingly. We shared the au gratin and asparagus, both were fine but not exceptional. There was almost no cheese in the au gratin. The most unsettling part of the evening was watching food run through the dining room on a multi-tiered delivery cart, with uncovered plates riding on the lowest shelf just inches above a dirty winter carpet, dodging boots and sneakers. This was genuinely shocking. If this meal cost half as much, the food might have been acceptable. At this price, the lack of cleanliness, training, and attention to detail is indefensible. As of now, this ranks among my worst fine-dining experiences in Boston.
Great steakhouse, we went for dinner on Christmas Eve. We had a 9:30p reservation, got there almost an hour early. They were very busy so we grabbed a few drinks at the bar. The staff are very friendly and handle a crowd well. The food was really good, my only complaint would be the lobster tail was really small. The desserts were really yummy as well.
Came here on a Sunday evening having made reservations ahead. Wow! What a delicious meal and the service could not be better. The waiter was extremely attentive and impressive. I mentioned that I wanted my martini ice cold and he brought the mix in an ice bath. They have only prime steak here and unlike other restaurants nearby, the steak is solo so if you want something with that, then you order a side which is enough for at least two people. We all ordered a salad, steak, some sides and then shared some desserts. The bacon in my salad as so good! Check out the photos. I highly recommend this place.
My friend and I visited here in March 2024 for lunch and the initial intention was to order items from the restaurant week menu, but for some reason we weren't able to do so. We ended up ordering from the regular lunch and brunch menus, and our experience at the restaurant was still very good. The free bread with butter was very tasty, especially the type with darker colors, which I believe was rye bread. We ordered two types of cocktails, one called Poppin' Bottles and one called My Cherry Amour, and both of them had fruity flavors. They were mixed very well and my friend and I enjoyed the start of our experience very much as a result of the bread and drinks. I ordered the shaved beef hash and I thought the portion size relative to the price was very worth it because I was given a good amount of beef, potatoes, poached eggs, and muffin bread, all of which were filling enough for me to become full after the dish. My friend ordered the lobster club and in general had positive feedback about it without a reaction indicating that it was spectacular. Both the sandwiches and the tuna tartare were on the pricier end. Finally we had the vanilla crème brûlée, and since I cook this dessert at home, I thought it was okay because the vanilla flavor was only minimally infused into the mixture. Regardless, it was a good experience and I felt honored that I had the chance to visit a fancy restaurant like this in Boston. I am aware that the establishment has won some type of steakhouse award in Massachusetts from 2015 to 2017, so I would fully expect visitors to get steak here.
Here is the translation: The restaurant is located in the center of Boston, in the best location. We made a reservation for eight people. The restaurant is a bit noisy in the evening and when it's at full capacity. The food was amazing; we ordered carpaccio and soup for starters, and steak for the main course. Highly recommended.
