If you are a woman, do not see this man because he does not care about you or your concerns or your body and you are worth being seen and heard and listened to! I really don't like leaving negative reviews but I would feel even worse if I didn't warn others of my experience with Dr. Hsieh (pronounced Shay) My concerns were not heard and he constantly talked over me while making it very clear that his "friendship" with the doctors in the community was more important than helping me - I literally left the practice in tears feeling so belittled. Here's the background: I suffer from hormonal facial acne and have been on Spironolactone for 4 years now. One of the big no-nos of being on this medication is that I cannot get pregnant while being on it and I personally do not want to be on hormonal birth control - I have tried two IUDs as well as multiple types of pills and they all mess with my mental well being. I use natural cycle with my oura ring which is an FDA approved form of birth control as well as use condoms with my husband and we have both discussed not wanting anymore kids in the future. I have known about how detrimental it would be if I got pregnant and take it VERY seriously. When I was living in Denver, my doctors worked WITH me and heard my wants and needs and gave me the prescriptions with the agreement of coming in for monthly pregnancy tests. Now that I am in California, I had to find a new Primary Care Doctor who would not feel comfortable with prescribing me the medication unless I took a pregnancy test and made a dermatologist appointment to explore other options of treatment. This was my experience: Dr. Hsieh came in and went straight to telling me there was nothing he can do to "over rule" my PCP and that he was friends with the doctors in the community and relies on their referrals. I tried multiple times to explain to him (while he kept talking over me) that I understood where their concerns were coming from and that I wasn't there for him to "over rule" anyone and if there were other options. His reply: why change something that's clearly working...OR I can always go on birth control or tie my tubes...I'm 31... So he clearly didn't listen or try to understand where I was coming from. And not once did he actually look at my skin and discuss my history (I even brought photos that he didn't look at) to even try and discuss other options. I honestly felt like he just wanted to get me out of there and didn't care to look at or hear my concerns about my skin. I truly believe your skin is just one part of your body as a whole and everything should be considered and worked together. So again, if you are a woman, do not see this man because he does not care about you or your concerns or your body and you are worth being seen and heard and listened to!
My 12 year old son had a derm appointment for his acne. After never having met him, or reviewing his charts, this doctor came into the room and started telling us what he was going to put him on, without even knowing what he had been on for meds before. When I questioned this, he got very rude and defensive and it basically escalated into an argument within one minute of the appointment. Then he started to ignore me and ask my son about his medications, and he's only 12 so he had no idea the long names of them. When I interjected to help, the doctor said "DO YOU NOT WANT ME TO TALK TO HIM??!!?" and things never got better. I have never written a bad review of a place before but this doctors arrogance and rudeness prompted me to do so- horrible horrible customer service and bad medical service (recommending a course of care without knowing any background)- highly recommend NOT going to this place. I transferred care to somewhere else with an awesome dermatologist.
I had an extremely disappointing visit with Dr. Hsieh recently. Not only was he incredibly rude and condescending throughout the appointment, but he didn't even bother to examine my skin at all. From the moment he entered the room, Dr. Hsieh seemed disinterested and dismissive. He spoke to me in a very demeaning and condescending tone, as if I were a child. It was clear that he had already made up his mind without even looking at my skin. He didn't provide any courses of action I could take to reduce inflammation or give any other recommendations, just a curt dismissal and a prescription handed to me without any explanation. His bedside manner was appalling. Instead of being supportive or empathetic, he made me feel like I was wasting his time. His condescending tone and lack of interest in my concerns were extremely unprofessional. Overall, my experience with Dr. Hsieh was a complete letdown. I left the office feeling frustrated and unheard. I felt as though his only goal with this less than 5 minute appointment was to bill my insurance, send me off with a prescription, and bring me back to charge my insurance again that to get refills. I definitely would not recommend him to anyone seeking compassionate and competent dermatological care.
My experience with Dr. Hsieh was actually horrible. I visited him several times in regard to acne and not once did he actually examine my skin. He loaded me with numerous topical treatments that didn't work and after that he prescribed me with accutane. But, after doing further research about the drug and having now been prescribed it with a different doctor, I found out that he actually started me off with DOUBLE the normal dose for my body weight. Actually insane. Not to mention that he is very rude and short in conversation. I'd describe it as condescending and it does not feel like he actually wants to help you. My family was also incorrectly charged countless times with substantial bills out of nowhere. Even after months of not even being seen by this place.
Dr. is not very helpful. He keeps telling me what I should not have done, but does not tell me how I should treat my issue. Every time when I tried to ask a question, he would interrupt me and does not give me a chance to talk. In the end, he ended our session and told me that there is is nothing wrong with me and we should not see him again. A bit rude if you ask me. The front desk is not quite competent. We have asked numerous time to make sure that the bill to insurance is accurate and our co-pay is processed properly. But after all the precautions, our insurance still got double billed. Stay away from this place. The Dr. may have more open slots, but you should probably think about why he is so free while his peers are all fully booked...
