I’ve been looking forward to trying Chi Spacca since we moved to the area. We visited for my husband’s birthday, what a treat! We had the octopus, focaccia, squash blossoms, bone marrow pie, and the “smaller” Bistecca Fiorentina. For dessert, the birthday cake, we had the burnt cheesecake. Everything we ate was elevated on taste and presentation. The wine pairings were excellent and i’m not usually a wine person. The sommelier really took me for an experience with the blanc and rosé pairing. The team at Chi Spacca has the best service and attention to detail we haven’t seen in a long time. This team truly loves what they do. Thank you for a lovely evening, one my husband will remember. Take your loved ones to Chi Spacca!
What can I say that hasn't already been said? I hope whoever reads this accepts that the only take I can offer is that the beef and bone marrow pie might have been the most succulent savory dish I've had the privilege of eating. Accompanied by a rich bright broccoli dish, surprisingly interesting carrots, and weirdly the best onion rings I've had...this is very well the greatest meal I've ever had. Appetizers galore and a butterscotch pudding to end the night, I found myself depressed knowing my next meal would be a continental breakfast. I look back and cherish the bites, excited to come back and challenge my pallet once again.
This is one of the Chase Sapphire Reserve dining so we decided to give it a shot. The bone marrow pie and hanker steak was so good. The mashed potatoes were also perfectly creamy. Even the anchovies butter bread was a nice treat. I think my least favorite would be the carrots. Service was excellent and the outdoor seating was a nice touch. I would come back here when I'm back in town.
This is a tapas type of restaurant I'd say. The biggest item was the cheese covered salad and the meat. The meat came last with onion rings. Everything was quite salty and this morning, my stomach is bubbling a bit. For $145 for one meat dish, I was a bit disappointed in the flavor. We ordered the Tomahawk. It was pork and still pink in the middle. I only ate a couple of slices because there was no side dish to drown out the saltiness. The service was good, they made sure we had water. I asked for tea which ended up being $6 for hot water and a tea bag. You will spend a lot of money here and I don't really think it's worth it.
I went to Osteria Mozza (which I really enjoyed) and thought Chi Spacca would be on the same level given the reputation—but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. I left genuinely disappointed by both the food and the service. The waitress was inattentive, bordering on rude. We were ignored multiple times, and there was no communication whatsoever about how long the steak would take, we would have ordered something else. For a place that prides itself on meat, you’d think they’d at least set expectations about timing. When the food finally arrived, it didn’t live up to the hype. For the price point, I expected something memorable or at least well-executed, but that just wasn’t the case. I could not say that one thing was great. Zero flavor and the dishes are not well thought out. That said, the decor and atmosphere were nicely done—the space itself is cozy and well-designed. But overall, the experience felt like a missed opportunity. With so many great restaurants in LA at this price point, I will not be back.
