The ferry building turns very beautiful during holidays . Outside on Saturdays ,there is a farmers market where you can find delicious small bites, flowers and organic ingredients to cook your holiday meals. Inside the ferry building the decoration are abundant and that perfect picture is guaranteed They have a variety of stores , my favorite this time was rhe candy shop as it had chocolate santas and nutcracker. The smell of local coffee is delicious. I had a cup of blue bottle coffee with a limited edition crossaint. If you had too much cofee , there are toilets available in the building. If you are on a budget like me I recommend bringing your own food and drink and enjoying the views at no cost. Happy holidays and happy exploring !!
One of the most famous and magnificent buildings in San Francisco, a pearl of the late 19th century left to decay until relatively recently, after the decision to not rebuild the Embarcadero Highway after a devastating earthquake in 1989 led to the full transformation and revitalization of the waterfront. The outside form of the building, greatly inspired by Spanish architecture like a lot of older buildings in San Francisco, is striking and quite lovely, somehow evoking a feeling of optimism and warmth, especially when the setting sun makes it shine in golden and orange hues. There's a stately elegance to buildings like this that simply does not exist in basically anything built in this city in the last 50 years: whether that is lovely or a little sad is a matter of interpretation, but it does mean that these buildings are part of a unique cultural heritage of the city that cannot be replicated, and I am so happy thus that this building has been revitalized like it has. The inside is filled with a surfeit of shops and restaurants, lights strung under a hull roof. San Francisco is one of the few cities in the West Coast that has an extensive tradition of elegant pre world war II architecture, and I appreciate seeing how Space is like this can be not only preserved but revitalized for the 21st century.
The Ferry Building Marketplace is a perfect, charming starting point for a Bay Area journey. The highlight, however, is the ferry ride itself. As the boat pulls away, you are instantly treated to the a breathtaking view: the full, iconic panorama of the San Francisco skyline. The ride is smooth and refreshing, with chilly breeze, offering incredible perspectives of the city as it shrinks into the background. You can see the Salesforce tower towering the other infrastructures. I took a ferry ride to Oakland/Alameda, and this trip is a scenic tour. Highly recommended as the best way to experience the beautiful landscape of the San Francisco Bay.
Beautiful place to walk around. The whole area is just really nice — lots of shops, lots of food, and plenty of spots to sit down and take in the views. It’s also super close to Pier 39, which makes exploring both really easy. I’d definitely come back again and spend more time here. Highly recommended.
One of the best destinations in San Francisco! The Ferry Building has everything: restaurants, coffee shops, various types of stores, clean public bathrooms, and it's also a beautiful historic building- no charge to enter! 🏛️ Perfect spot for the thrice weekly farmers market, a fancy lunch, or grabbing a quick drink to sip while walking the lovely Embarcadero piers. 🌉 Don't forget that the F Market railcar goes right past, adding to the classic charm. 🚎 Lots of vegan options! 🌱
