It’s… fine, particularly if you buy pre-packaged stuff. The produce is often moldy or old, squishy, or on the verge of rotting. It’s a total hit or miss. They have great frozen vegetarian options, and cheese. But the fresh produce, you’re better off going to Union Street.
Need to shop here a lot more to be able to give a better review. However I think they changed ownership and it's not that bad recovering from Covid. Like I always say it's always nice to support family owned businesses and especially the neighborhood ones. The only problem I have with this place is the one way street and the street parking. I wish them well
UPDATE 1/24/21: the new owners of this store have managed to maintain the previous owners’ high bar for natural produce, but now with an expanded and more appealing offering of other items. This is a great neighborhood gem. We try to stop in each week to support them and always get a friendly greeting and all the vittles we need. A+ grade for the owner and his staff! —— Convenient and a very good selection of organic and regular groceries. Don’t know why people are rapping on bad produce: in seven years of stopping by here, we find great quality and after bring them home, the fruit/veggies last longer and are higher quality than anything we buy from supermarkets or natural stores. Lastly, the team that works there is very pleasant and helpful. Great neighborhood business to use and support.
Good neighborhood spot that we pop into 1-2x a week when we need to grab a few things for week night dinners or breakfast on the weekend! Prices are very fair given it’s a small grocery and not a chain, so I’m confused why people that have reviewed in the pst say it’s expensive. Staff is very nice and friendly and always helpful. I like that there is a variety of healthy and maybe not as healthy (good chocolate bar selection and some solid ice cream choices). Also they have a solid wine selection with a variety of price points.
Ich gehe hier seit 20 Jahren hin. Es ist einer der besten Orte in der Gegend für gesunde Ernährung. Als Veganer gehe ich hier regelmäßig hin, wenn ich in North Beach bin, weil ich oft besseres Essen bekomme als in den lokalen Restaurants, besonders zum Frühstück. Hier kann man Dinge bekommen und im nahegelegenen Washington Square Park ein Picknick machen. Leider ist die Qualität nicht immer großartig (sie führen viele Mainstream-Produkte voller Chemikalien / Maissirup mit hohem Fruchtzuckergehalt usw.), aber wenn man vorsichtig ist, findet man hier gute biologische, vegane und nachhaltige Versionen von fast allem. Schade, dass sie die Sandwich- und Smoothie-Bar geschlossen haben, das war großartig. Jetzt ist es nur noch verschwendeter Platz. Es ist wirklich ein hartes Geschäft, in dem man tätig ist, und ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, wie hoch ihre Miete sein muss. Die Preise mögen etwas hoch erscheinen, aber sie sind angesichts der Umstände sehr vernünftig. Bitte unterstützen Sie diesen Laden mit Ihrem Einkauf und helfen Sie, einen der wenigen unabhängigen Bio-Läden am Leben zu erhalten.
