I recently visited Kanpai Japanese Steakhouse and, unfortunately, my experience was disappointing especially regarding how my food allergy was handled. I have a dairy allergy, which includes reactions to products like margarine, and I made sure to communicate this clearly. I’ve dined here multiple times in the past and have never had an issue with my meal being prepared safely or with staff accommodating my needs. That’s why this visit was especially surprising. When I asked whether certain dishes could be prepared without dairy or margarine, the manager responded in a curt and unhelpful way, giving the impression that my concerns were an inconvenience. Instead of offering alternatives or confirming ingredients, I was met with frustration and a lack of willingness to assist. As someone with a serious allergy, this was unsettling. A restaurant should make every customer feel safe and respected, especially when health concerns are involved. The rest of the staff was pleasant, but the manager’s behavior overshadowed the experience. Allergies require careful attention, and I expected a more understanding and professional approach especially in a restaurant where ingredients like butter and margarine are commonly used on the grill. I hope Kanpai Japanese Steakhouse will take this as constructive feedback. Improving communication, showing empathy toward guests with dietary restrictions, and offering clear ingredient guidance would make a major difference. With better customer care and more attention to allergy safety, the dining experience could be much more positive for everyone.
Get your wallet ready this foods expensive ! You're paying for the experience and fun cooking ! The restaurant is beautiful , clean and atmospheric ! Caution: If you're autistic or have any sensory issues this is NOT the place for you. It is loud and boisterous ! You share a table with another family and you are interacted with by the chef !
We had a lovely experience , the food was delicious . They were very careful about my food allergy. It's one thing to go out to eat but it's also another to have that experience with your family , it was fun and memorable. Meeting new table mates was also a blast.
Took full advantage of their beautiful sushi selection. The rolls were extremely fresh and packed with flavor (a bit on the pricier side though, so it was a splurge to try a handful of rolls). I did takeout but would love to return sometime to try out their hibachi. ** Also wanted to note- the atmosphere is very pretty!
