I feel beyond lucky to have found N-Flux. From day one, it was exactly what I was searching for: an environment that pushes you, teaches you, with a supportive environment. The class schedule offers something every day, and every class delivered an intense workout where I walked away having learned something new. Chris, Katya and the entire N-Flux team are truly exceptional. They are knowledgeable, motivating, and deeply committed to helping you grow; not just physically, but mentally and strategically as well. I can’t pick a favorite class because each one challenged me in a completely different way, forcing me to move differently, think differently, and constantly level up. This is a no-nonsense environment in the best way. Everyone who shows up is there to learn and get hands-on practice. These classes are not for the faint of heart—you will be pushed outside your comfort zone, but that’s exactly what makes them so rewarding. The only reason I’m leaving N-Flux is that I’m moving. Otherwise, I’d be here without question. If you’re even thinking about joining, take this as your sign—you’ve found a rare gem.
These guys are great. I was in town for two weeks. They let me jump right in and were very welcoming. Good solid training with no egos. I 100% recommend.
If you’re even thinking about trying jiu jitsu, just go for it. Seriously. Chris and Katya are amazing instructors. Their teaching style is a little different from the traditional approach. They use games to help you learn, which makes things way more engaging. It’s less about memorizing moves and more about figuring things out for yourself. It pushes you to think on your feet and get creative. The gym community is just as awesome. I came in with zero experience and, honestly, was a little nervous. But everyone I’ve met has been kind, welcoming, and super helpful - both during drills and live rolls. There’s a great mix of experience levels too, so whether you’re just starting or more advanced, you’ll always have great people to train with.
I want to start by saying that the instructors at N-FLUX, especially Chris and Katya, are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The overall vibe at the school is warm, and I appreciated the community feeling. Chris’ kickboxing classes offer a high-energy cardio workout centered around bag work and core training. While enjoyable, they focus more on conditioning than on technique or controlled sparring. I’d strongly recommend these sessions for people over 40 who are looking for a fun and active fitness class. On the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu side, I had a very positive experience with Katya’s basic classes. Her sessions are well-structured, with solid warm-ups, clear guidance, and a “safety first” mindset. The energy was playful, respectful, and inclusive — a great environment for beginners. Unfortunately, my experience with Chris’ BJJ class was quite different. I joined a basic-level session but quickly realized the group was a mix of beginners and advanced students (some with 3–5 years of experience). Instead of practicing fundamentals, several experienced participants were pushing the pace aggressively and deviating from the exercise goals. For example, while working on back takes, some were experimenting with leg attacks, which were not part of the intended flow — yet still received positive feedback from the teacher. In one case, I was paired with a more advanced practitioner who disregarded the intended technique and took a competitive approach, attacking my wrist during what should have been a cooperative drill. That resulted in a TFCC wrist injury and a facial scratch from an untrimmed nail. It’s been two weeks, and I still can’t lift anything with my right hand — likely out for several more weeks. The class lacked adequate oversight, and the mismatched experience levels created an unsafe learning environment. On top of that, another participant reportedly twisted their knee during the same session. This points to a broader issue in how safety is handled — beginners should not be paired with advanced students in entry-level classes without clear structure and supervision. As a final note, the facility currently lacks changing rooms or showers, and the space can carry some strong odors from gear/shoes. All in all, a school with great potential and good-hearted instructors, but my experience with Chris’ BJJ class raised serious concerns. Until safety protocols and class structures are more consistently enforced, I unfortunately cannot recommend it to others looking for a reliable and beginner-friendly BJJ environment.
N-Flux is such a nice environment to practice martial arts and self defense in. Everyone there is really knowledgeable, kind, and respectful. The equipment and studio is very clean and I appreciate that the gym is family friendly as well. Thank you so much for a wonderful introduction to martial arts!
