These guys are a class act. Start to finish, beyond the work itself which of course was solid, the experience surrounding the work was great. Lots of clear, concise, honest communication. They were patient and able to break down the process without rushing through anything. In a world where good customer service is becoming more and more elusive, these guys haven't forgotten the value of hospitality. Good humans, human-ing. Thanks guys!

This is a trustworthy auto shop. As a person who has no mechanical intuition whatsoever, I always fear getting taken advantage of. Mike, who usually answers the phone, is clearly knowledgeable and wants the best for his customers. He gave me lots of advice on a car I recently bought. Unfortunately, I did not have the foresight to take it to be looked at before the purchase. But after communicating with him about a problem that came up only 1.5 months after purchase, he suggested I take it in for an inspection to see if it was even worth repairing. Luck was not on my side and the car turned out to need more than $5000 in maintenance repairs. The reason I know he’s a good mechanic is because he’s a Subaru specialist and in a different situation, an opportunistically malevolent mechanic might take that opportunity to tell me all these things are wrong (perhaps even lie) and then try to buy it off me for a really low price, and then make a profit after doing his own repairs. But he wasn’t interested in working on it whatsoever. Which tells me he has integrity in his work and he didn’t want to work on or resell a very crappy car. Furthermore, the inspection report was ammo enough for me to go back to the seller. Although I believe this is a rare occurrence, I was able to negotiate for a full refund of the initial cost of the car. So essentially, Mike saved me from either losing money on the repairs, or losing money on the resale value. Moral of the story, go to Ootmar’s for your car work.

Awesome neighbourhood automotive shop in the heart of the city! Ben and team are warm, friendly, straightforward and honest. I have been looking for a trustworthy, reliable, skilled and experienced shop and have been to a few before finding Ootmar's. This place is an understated gem conveniently located just off Main Street. The office, shop, & outside are very clean. The service was thorough and quick - my service included oil change, maintenance check, & new brakes on my Audi. Invoices are clearly itemized so you know exactly what you are paying for, and Ben took time to go over the invoice items with me to explain what work was done, the parts used, and took time to answer my questions. I have found my go-to mechanic/auto shop - and suggest that they are definitely worth trying out!

Truly the best mechanics ever. They are timely, communicative, knowledgeable, and do flawless work for a fair price. They also go above and beyond in answering questions about your car, even going so far as to call a previous mechanic in a different city and ask them why they had charged extra for something when it didn’t make sense. They have been endlessly helpful in providing advice in buying a new car and even offered to look into some options. Though the shop is conveniently close to me, I would go out of the way to go here.
