Great classes accompanied by great instructors. Facilities are kept really clean parking us always easy. Changing rooms are a bit packed after classes, but not a big deal if you wait a minute or two.
The classes at Power Life are the most challenging I’ve experienced in the last 20 years. And I want to go back every day. I love how across all 4 locations in Omaha there are SO many class times and options— you’ll never miss an amazing workout or better teachers!
I didn’t take any photos but the studio is nice. Small but still has two rooms for practice, two locker rooms, and a small sitting area. The locker room is a bit chaotic because shoes and coats are taken in there too. It would be helpful if shoes could be removed before entering the studio or the locker room. The class was a fun sculpt series and I enjoyed the instructors energy, cueing, and presentation. It would’ve been helpful to have the instructor walk around and sample the move as it was hard to see from certain angles because of how full the class was. I recommend this studio if you’re looking for an upbeat workout.
I really want to love these classes because the instructors are fantastic, and the sessions themselves are well-structured, but the overcrowding makes it impossible. The studio packs so many people in that there’s barely an inch between mats, making it difficult—if not unsafe—to fully express each pose. It’s uncomfortable and distracting to have someone’s foot inches from my face or to have to worry that I’m going to kick the person behind me. With so many people, the instructor has difficulty moving through the room, meaning I’m not confident that we’re being watched for proper alignment. On top of that, the women’s locker room is far too small for the number of participants. There’s often a line just to get in and out, while the men’s locker room sits empty because the vast majority of attendees are women. It’s frustrating that the space isn’t better designed to accommodate the actual clientele.
While visiting family in Omaha from San Diego, I decided to take a Monday Restore class at Power Life in Aksarben. As a yoga teacher who practices and teaches a variety of styles, I was excited to experience this studio’s take on a restorative class. Walking into the studio, I was impressed by the clean and well-maintained facilities, as well as the warm and welcoming vibe that greeted me. The atmosphere definitely set the stage for what I hoped would be a relaxing and rejuvenating session. The Restore class itself was okay, but not exactly what I expected. The instructor was very friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated, but she talked quite a bit throughout the session. In my understanding, Restore classes are typically designed to create a calm, meditative environment, so the frequent talking disrupted the serene flow I was hoping for. It felt less like a true restorative experience and more like an instructional session. I’m unsure if the teacher was newer to this style or if it’s just how classes are generally structured here. Overall, my experience at Power Life was mixed. The facilities and staff created a positive first impression, and I can see why locals would enjoy coming here regularly. However, the Restore class didn’t fully align with the calming experience I associate with this type of practice. That said, I would still be open to exploring other classes at Power Life to see what else the studio has to offer.
