I came here in October. I called to see how long it would take. They told me approximately 1 hour (on a week day) which is reasonable, especially because I'm working too. They didn't ask me what the year, make and model of my car. Once I arrived (10 minutes later), I was told to come back at 4pm (6 hours later). I had to walk to work. They were reasonable on the cost, though.
If you believe in karma and have ever been on the receiving end of an SFMTA ticket that was totally BS (so, basically every San Franciscan), think twice before giving this guy your business. I’ve been a customer here twice. You’d think that would earn a little neighborly goodwill. Nope. The owner called SFMTA because my back bumper was barely in the red zone of a gated and locked driveway. Not blocking anything. Just… existing near his precious red paint. I parked overnight and was there in the morning to head out to work, but by 8:08 a.m., he had already gleefully called SFMTA. Ticket issued. Mission accomplished. $108 ticket issued. I'm sure that made his day, like fresh puppy blood. I’ve lived in this neighborhood for twenty years, and let me tell you — this guy treats calling SFMTA the way most people treat happy hour. He lives for it. If there’s a citation fairy, he’s her favorite pen pal. So if you loathe SFMTA and their zero-tolerance tax on anyone who owns a car in SF — while the city seemingly enforces nothing on anyone else — DO NOT reward our neighborhood ogre someone who does this to former customers and neighbors. Get your tires at Costco or literally anywhere else.
I came here wanting to like this shop, considering the high number of positive reviews. I got bad news that all four of my tires were beyond repair (this is obviously not the shop's fault). When I told the individual (I presume the owner) that my tires were recently replaced and should be under warranty, he kept telling me he couldn't give me a piece of paper saying the tires were looked at and they were beyond repair for "liability reasons." I don't get it. I understand the shop wants to sell tires and I was trying to make a warranty claim with tirerack, instead of buying immediately. He also couldn't blow some air into my tire so I could drive away, for "liability reasons." I've had better and friendlier service in numerous auto shops. I did also think the $80 quote to do a flat repair (before we realized they were not repairable) was quite expensive compared to other shops in the city.
Well these guys were just a few of the angels watching over us today. I can't even express how thankful we we were for the awesome Caltrans worker who promptly rescued us off the Bay Bridge and took us to a tire shop after he called several for us to find the correct size. We were needing a miracle and Mr AJLB & the crew at Robert's Tires pulled it off... Above and beyond to all involved!! We could not have done it without all of those angels along the journey. Thanks to them we made it to the airport in time. You guys ROCK!!
I visited Robert’s Tire and Wheels (986 Harrison Street) for the the first time today and it was a very pleasant experience. Upon arrival, I spoke to the owner of the business, Robert, who was very friendly and easy to work with. Robert has been in business in the Bay Area since 1979. In addition to the obvious, selling tires and wheels, Robert’s also offers several mechanical repairs ranging from belts and hoses to cooling system repairs. When I initially visited before the repairs took place, Robert asked, “what was I in need of and how could he help.” I’m not an auto technician so my ability to explain the situation is that of a layman. Robert came out to the vehicle, inspected all four (4) tires, taught me about the age of a tire by finding the date on it, and mentioned the importance of wear and tear. I purchased four (4) brand new tires and a wheel alignment. Luckily, Robert’s Tire and Wheels also offers coupons in their website. I was able to use a $60 off coupon. Robert‘a team changed my wheels and did the alignment in about 2 hours. Four new tires and a wheel alignment cost a little over $500 with the coupon which is fair. I’m pleased with the quality of the work, and would encourage anyone in need of tires, wheels, or service to check out this business!
