We hired Soderlin to service a Lochinvar high-performance combination boiler we inherited—their sticker was on the unit. After routine maintenance in 2024, we were told everything looked fine. Less than a year later, the unit began rumbling, locking out and eventually making loud explosion sounds. The unit also comfortably within its expected life range. The technician returned many times, tried different calibrations, replaced parts and advised repeated resets. Frustrated, he explained that Lochinvar high-performance units can be “lemons” and encouraged us multiple times to replace it with a regular unit—each time offering a discounted deal. Late in the process, he shared that Lochinvar technical support required a low-pressure test he had never been trained to perform, which would have required traveling to their headquarters in Tennessee. He wasn’t sent for that training. He attempted the test, his equipment broke, and he returned the next day to complete it, confirming the low pressure had indeed been off. Shortly afterward, the boiler failed completely. To be fair, we shared our concerns with Soderlin directly but never received a response. One has to wonder whether proper training from the start might have saved everyone stress and time—and us thousands of dollars. We hired another company to replace the unit.
Jeff at Soderlin’s was great to work with. I gutted the 3 walls. Jeff replumbed. A craftsman Jeff recommended constructed a soap niche, tiled, and installed 3 grab bars. Then, Jeff installed a new showerhead and handheld shower. Teamwork resulted in a beautiful new shower.
While my most recent experience with Soderlin Plumbing was for a simple replacement of parts in a toilet tank, I have utilized them throughout the years for the ultimate plumbing job (replacing all the plumbing in the house) and everything in between. I have always been able to get an appointment within a couple days. All staff I have interacted with have been highly experienced and able to explain what they are doing and the relevant costs. I appreciate that Soderlin regularly publishes coupons in neighborhood newspapers, as well as periodically sending me a thank you discount on my next service in the mail. I have always had one of these coupons or discounts on hand to save some money on each of my service calls. I also appreciate that Soderlin accepts all credit cards for payment without charging additional fees for doing so.
Jeff is friendly, timely, and great at every plumbing issue I have had. The leak was fixed and faucet looks amazing. Once again Jeff was personable, respectful, efficient and proud of his work and the fact I was happy with my purchase! Joel arrived on time, checked all of my gas lines, replaced an old valve, installed the dryer and wrapped the vent with insulation. I am extremely happy that it was done perfect.
We love Soderlin! We worked with Jeff Johnson on the replacement of our original 100+ year-old boiler during December and everything went perfectly. Existing boiler was removed, and asbestos abatement occurred during 3 hours on Saturday morning, then the new boiler was installed over about 5 hours on Monday morning. Powerful space heaters were provided for the weekend and the house stayed plenty warm. The new boiler is small and quiet, and we feel like we got a great price. Communications and coordination were smooth and everyone at Soderlin was wonderful to work with. In particular, Jeff and Lisa were fantastic. I confidently recommend Soderlin and look forward to working with them again in the future!
