Best tea in Madison and beyond. We have a few of their incredible imported green teas at home and would never go anywhere else even for simpler teas like earl grey or chamomile. Best chai/matcha lattes (hot and cold) and friendly, awesome staff. We love this business!
This tea shop is beautiful inside and a good place to purchase high-quality tea to brew at home. I purchased some GYOKURO and Hojicha to take home and they are both phenomenal. My one issue with this place is that I went there looking forward to having tea in the shop, but all the seats were taken, and when I asked if I could stand in the shop and enjoy the tea, I was told that I could not. So, if there are no seats available, one is required to have takeout tea, which is not a very ideal nor welcoming experience. I would like to persuade the shop to do things differently! Their argument for why I couldn’t hang out and stand and drink my tea was that they needed room for people to shop their wares (I.e teapots etc). And their wares are wonderful and beautiful! But why not let people hang out and drink their tea even if it is a little crowded? I was in Japan recently and was in many a crowded teahouse. The atmosphere in these teahouses was convivial and welcoming. I was actually kind of shocked when I was told I had to just leave with my tea and to have it in a paper cup as opposed to a real cup in the shop. And I would’ve been much more likely to buy an expensive tea set or any number of the beautiful items that were on display if I had been allowed to relax and enjoy my tea in the shop whilst perusing them. This part of the experience was very off putting to me.
I come here a few times a year and buy so much herbal tea. I love, love, love their blends. I do wish they had more open hours. Pic below of my latest buy
I LOVE Teasider. Their bulk matcha is high quality and a great start to every morning. The staff is kind and knowledgeable, always helpful in their recommendations. Today I was recommended the Sobacha (Japanese buckwheat) for a warm and cozy afternoon. The vibes inside are great, and I appreciate a laptop-free space.
My favorite tea house I have been to in America. High quality Matcha and the Hojicha mate latte was so delicious. Drinks come in glass and straw is compostable (extra points!) 💚
