Float the Noatak

Noatak National Preserve

A float trip by canoe on the Noatak River

Rivers + Ranges = Recreation The Noatak River winds through the Brooks Range providing recreational opportunities in pristine wilderness. The remoteness of this arctic landscape allows for such experiences to still exist. The Noatak River can be a lengthy trip depending on what segments visitors would like to tackle. Be properly prepared for weather from snow and freezing temperatures to hot summer sun throughout spring, summer, and fall. Bugs abound along the river because of its clear clean water so make sure to bring proper repellant or netting. Wildlife is wild in this wilderness so bring bear spray and bear resistant containers to prevent widllife of all kinds from associating people with interesting smells and fun camping gear to play with. The last thing you want is to be stuck on the river with damaged gear. Let someone know your itinerary and bring a communication device with you in case of emergencies.
