Mojave National Preserve

Kelso Depot Visitor Center and Museum contains a wealth of information on the human and natural history of the area. Come learn about the plants, animals, and people who have called this area home at some point in history. Rangers are available to answer questions and distribute maps. There is an auditorium featuring a 20 minute film, which is a good introduction to Mojave National Preserve.

Spend some time exploring Kelso Depot Visitor Center and Museum! Kelso features two floors of exhibits covering both natural and human history, a film that serves as an introduction to the Preserve, the Artist-in-Residence's art gallery, a park store, and rangers ready to help you and answer your questions. As of January 2022, The Kelso Depot Visitor Center is Currently CLOSED due to mechanical failure and repairs of heating and airconditioning system. The front entrance to the Kelso Depot has a ramp, but the door needs to be opened manually. Rangers working at the depot will assist visitors who struggle with the door. There are both stairs and an elevator available to help visitors navigate the different floors of the building. All exhibit rooms and the movie room are accessible.
