Biking in Pinnacles National Park
Pinnacles National Park
biking, road biking
Bicycles are a great mode of transportation and option when parking areas fill. The east entrance and west entrance roads do not connect . All vehicles, including bikes and mopeds, are restricted to paved surfaces and not allowed on trails, with the exception of the unpaved road to the Bacon Ranch near the campground on the east side of the park. Please ride with safety in mind and watch for pedestrians and wildlife. There are no bikes lanes and most of the park roads do not have a shoulder. Bike racks are located near the Campground and Park Store, Bear Gulch and Moses Spring parking areas, Peaks View Parking Area, Manzanita Parking Area and Old Pinnacles Parking Area on the east side of the park and the West Visitor Contact Station Parking Area on the west side of the park. Road biking is not advised through the West Entrance. Most of CA-146 and Chaparral Road is winding and one and a half lanes wide (in some places only one lane wide). Plan ahead and prepare. Take only pictures and leave only footprints, leaving objects as you find them. Observe wildlife from a distance and avoid loud voices or noises to be considerate of others.
