Living history demonstrations are conducted on select Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year. Park staff and volunteers dress in colonial period clothing and demonstrate skills and trades of Frederica's settlers: blacksmithing, dyeing, weaving, soldiering, and more. This is a great opportunity to learn more about daily life during the British colonial period of Georgia. Planning a visit in December? Fort Frederica National Monument hosts an annual celebration of James Oglethorpe's birthday. A founding trustee of Georgia, town planner, and general of the British forces, James Oglethorpe played a vital role in establishing the colony of Georgia. This event consists of living history demonstrations, a program on James Oglethorpe and his impact, and a formal toast to the General. Want to know if there will be a living history demonstration when you visit? Monitor the park's social media for updates on events. Or call 912 638-3639 and speak with a ranger during visitor center hours (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM).
