Jimmy Carter National Historical Park

Plains High School is where both Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter went grades one through eleven. It has been transformed into a museum detailing the life of the citizens of Plains, as well as the Carter's.

Visitors may visit the Plains High School Visitor Center and Museum. Inside there are six rooms of exhibits detailing the life, times, and accomplishments of the Carter's as well as the citizens of Plains.

Service Animals are permitted to be in the Visitor Center and other park facilities. Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Pets are welcome at the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park - but to protect other visitors, wildlife, and your pets themselves; please remember these regulations: Pets must be leashed, 6 foot or shorter leash, at all times. You must clean up behind your pet. You may not leave a tie a pet to a tree or other structure. Pets are allowed to use the walkway and grounds at the Boyhood Farm, Plains Depot, and Plains High School but must be on a leash at all times. Pets are not allowed inside Plains High School, Plains Depot, the Carter Boyhood Home, the Clark House.
