Take a Self-Guided Augmented Reality Tour!

Bring to life a freedom town on the frontier! Today, few hints of life in New Philadelphia remain above ground. But you can peek into the past through your mobile device! Bring the town to life with the New Philadelphia Association’s self-guided augmented reality app. The augmented reality app guides you along a quarter-mile trail to 11 stops. Using the app, point your mobile device’s camera at the tour stop markers. Animated buildings and people will appear on the landscape in front of you. Audio narrations share stories about town founders Free Frank and Lucy McWorter. They explore how residents fought against slavery. And how they lived together in a multicultural community during a time of extreme racial turmoil. Several benches also provide walkers with spots to take a break and view the landscape.
