Fort Tours on Georges Island

Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area

Join a ranger for a tour of Fort Warren on Georges Island!

Join the rangers of the Boston Harbor Islands for a tour of Fort Warren! Some ranger-led tours focus primarily on the military history of the fortifications, while others discuss the lives of prisoners at the fort during the Civil War. During the summer season, tours are offered daily to coincide with ferry times. These programs last about 45 minutes and are typically followed by a telling of the story of the Lady in Black. All tours are staffing and weather dependent. Check inside the Visitor Center upon arrival to Georges for updates. Georges Island is accessible via public ferry. To purchase ferry tickets, please visit the Ferry Information page on the Boston Harbor Islands partnership website.
