Start at the Visitor Center
George Washington Carver National Monument
Many visitors like to start their park experience at the visitor center. Orientation services and basic visitor information are available at the information desk. This is the location of the passport cancellation stamp. Stop by the park store and browse the products. The visitor center is open daily, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The visitor center is a wonderful start to your visitor experience at George Washington Carver National Monument. Park staff and volunteers will be at the front desk to greet and orient you to the park. All guided tours (10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. daily) of Carver trail begin in the visitor center and the park film is shown in the theater every 45 minutes (starting at 9:15 a.m. and last showing is 4:00 p.m.). Children interested in earning a Junior Ranger Badge can learn about more the program and pick up an activity booklet. Temporary exhibits on George Washington Carver are also displayed in the visitor center. Restroom facilities and drinking fountains are also located near the front desk and lower level. Don’t forget to pick up a park brochure which includes a map of the trail. Stop by the Park Store! The Carver Birthplace Association is a nonprofit organization established to assist in advancing the historical, scientific, educational and interpretive programs of the National Park Service at George Washington Carver National Monument. Proceeds from the sales of store items are used for these programs and the preservation of this historical site. The visitor center is open daily, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The visitor center is accessible to people using wheelchairs, walkers, or other assisted mobility devices. Currently, text for the museum & discovery area exhibits does not have a braille translation. The park’s brochure with braille translation is available upon request at the front desk. None of the current exhibits include audio tracks or other sounds currently. Pets are not allowed in the museum except service animals. A service animal is defined as “any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.” Dogs are the only animals that can be used as a service animal except for miniature horses
