This program is designed for children making a visit to Vicksburg National Military Park. Children can explore the park and learn about Vicksburg through activities of varying difficulty. The Junior Ranger Program is available upon request at the Visitor Center.
The Junior Ranger program helps kids get involved and learn more about Vicksburg National Military Park. Anyone can become a Junior Ranger by completing activities during a visit to the park. When you visit Vicksburg National Military Park, ask for the Junior Ranger Booklet at the information desk in the Visitor Center. Complete activities in the booklet during your visit based on age of the Junior Ranger. These activities include completing answers to questions about exhibits at the Visitor Center and Cairo Museum, questions about monuments, and designing your own battle flag. Once the book is completed, return it to the Visitor Center to pick up your official Junior Ranger Badge.
