Watch Vicksburg National Military Park's Orientation Film

Learn About the Campaign That Opened The Mississippi River and Severed The Confederacy In Half "Here Brothers Fought" gives a strong orientation to the events that led to the surrender of Vicksburg, Mississippi during the American Civil War. Produced in 2009, this film summarizes Grant's military masterpiece as he decided to take the calculated risk of marching his army through the swamps and bayous of Louisiana and cross the Mississippi River on a 'blizkrieg through the state of Mississippi. Grant's army fought five major actions, defeating the Confederates at each location on their fast journey to the outskirts of Vicksburg itself. The orientation film is 20-minutes long and is shown in the visitor center theater every half hour on the top and bottom of each hour. The first showing starts at 8:30AM and the last begins at 4:00PM. In the rare occassion of a special event taking place in the park theater, the film can also be view by accessing the park website on your smart phone, tablet, or computer.
