Attend a ranger-led program and learn more about the Wright Brothers! Wind and Sand Our Wind and Sand program is a great overview of the Wright Brothers and the events that occured here in the development of the first flight. The 30 minute program highlights the evolution of the Wright Brothers from bicycle mechanics to aviation legends. This program will take you on a short walk to the site of the brothers' camp and to the location of the first flights that occured on December 17, 1903. The program is generally accessible. The program will take visitors along paved sidewalks near the visitor center. It will start at the patio, where visitors can sit for the first few minutes. The rest of the program will involve walking and standing, either on the sidewalk or grass, near the reconstructed camp buildings. There is not a lot of shade on the grounds. On hot humid days, heat exhaustion can set in very quickly. Make sure to bring water and sun protection!
Yes — This is an outdoor led program. Pets are allowed on leashes no longer than 6 feet.
No — No reservations are required, just show up outside at the time of the program.
